Carrying at work even though its against policy

Wasp spray is essentially nerve agent, and strong enough to sicken a full adult in an enclosed space such as a small room or closet. TOO high a concentration could even be fatal. Its intended to be, for the wasp, you know...;)

I do wonder if there are people sitting in Fed jail for having used outdoor bugspray indoors...they "don't have time" to prosecute people who lie on the 4473 and try to get a gun, illegally, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did have someone who's job that was. Probably the same guy(s) raiding our homes to bust us for tearing that tag off pillows and mattresses...

notice how they never talk about that??? You thought "black ops" was all that spy stuff in foreign countries, right??

When I was doing my neuroscience post-doc, the MD teaching neurobiology did nerve poisons. Wasp spray was based on such. He recited cases of deaths they saw in the ER from that stuff. Some idiot hosed the inside of the house chasing a wasp.

The spray can be considered lethal force and that's why folks who suggest it as a substituted for OC are wrong.

Carry a quality OC as a better alternative.

So wasp spray may not be a good idea. What about bear spray?

I park my jeep on the public street to avoid the "no gun on property" policy. I know that's not an option to everyone through

Bear sprays are big. How do you carry such concealed at the work place?

One can carry a reasonable OC with concealment. However, some places have rules about those also.

The best self defense spray is Easy Off oven cleaner.

Over 30 years ago i taught self defense in a course on rape prevention. I gave the ladies a big bar type can opener with instructions to tear the attackers face off. Also gave them a small can of Easy Off oven cleaner with a stream nozzle.

Got a call from a deputy in southern WV. One of my students wetted down an attacker with Easy Off. The attacker was blinded in one eye and the deputy said "it looked like his face ran".

I'm betting that same warning is on an oven cleaner can. Seems to me that a felony could not only lose you for you your conceal carry license, it could lose your right to even own firearms.

Just ask.

OK, I read an oven cleaner can and no in fact it does not carry the same felony warning, I stand corrected. But seriously people, with all of the self defense sprays out there on the market, tazers and the like, why in the world would someone use wasp spray or oven cleaner?

Again, just ask.

This is where I'm at. One needs to do what they feel they need to do to stay safe, but at the risk of loosing ones job, I'd be the last to recommend breaking employer rules. I'd be interested in knowing whether the OP could carry Mace or another SD spray. Most employers do not restrict the use of Hornet Spray, and it works just as well as Mace, except it generally comes in larger cans and not easily concealed. But if it's just to get one from the curb to inside, ease of concealment may not be that important.

If you intend to use a household chemical or pesticide as a self defense agent please do one thing first, read the label, if it says "use only as directed" then it could very well bring criminal charges against you for using that chemical for something other than its intended use. Besides using chemicals such as those found in house hold products and pesticides could potentially kill the perpetrator if they are allergic to any of the ingredients found in them. If that should happen you'll be defending yourself in a court of law and I'm pretty sure there will be no way to justify using such chemicals as a self defense weapon.

Just be very judicious in choosing a self defense device so you don't find yourself in a bad situation.

i simply said it was the best. i don't recommended carrying the stuff today. When i taught self defense to ladies in the early 1980s there was no pepper spray or tazers.

Wasp spray or oven cleaner? Come on, products designed for specific applications that don't include high stress and adrenaline filled sd situations. Put your finger on the wrong spot on a small plastic nozzle and then you're screwed.

In those states where the " no guns allowed" signs carry the weight of law, i comply.

Here in Co, they (thankfully) do not carry that weight. So i ignore them.

Chtoff, it may be acceptable to you to recommend others to break laws that can ruin their life, have them jailed and probably also loose their right to even own guns much less carry them but I strongly recommend that the OP not pursue your recommendations. I recommend reading "Florida Firearms - Law, Use and Ownership" by Jon H. Gutmacher. He is the most recognized lawyer, expert and writer on the topic of gun ownership and concealed carry. I know he focuses on Florida but he also has sections for other states as well. Get legal advice from a lawyer and expert not a post on any forum.

Wise words Minorcan...
Blatantly disregard of the law is not what we are all about.
I choose not to go to places that don't allow carry if I can help it.
Carrying has made me a better citizen in a way.

Carrying has made me a better citizen in a way.

I can agree with that myself.
Regrettably I don't think it has the same impact on all people.

I will admit that I do not see those signs much of the time however those signs do not carry the weight of the law where I live.

Here we aren't talking about a sign though, we are talking about an employee handbook which outlines the rules and regulations of this woman's employer.
She stated that she works in a 'clinic'. A clinic is a healthcare facility, depending on her locale, ignoring the weapons rules of her employer could carry the force of law. Ignoring could also lose her conceal carry license if she were discovered, and possibly her ability to even own a firearm forever, not to mention fines and jail time, and most certainly her job .

Finding herself in a situation where in fact she had to use it would insure that she is discovered.

Just ask, then go from there.

I carry everywhere. I quietly laugh at those signs that say NO GUNS.

Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6. Having laws that say you can conceal carry but contradicting those laws with other laws saying you can't carry (here) are a funny joke, and not one that I respect in the least.

Yeah, let me just toss my gun in the gun basket while I do my business in that facility and pick it up on the way out. Yeah no...

So, you are for ignoring and violating the rights of others who have a business because of your own views? WOW....

Plus, it is very hard to find a holster for wasp spray.

Not recommended for deep concealment! :p
