27,
Won't you be missed at Democratic Underground or maybe at the last dozen or so Air America listeners?

What a bunch of crap.

Oh, I musta struck a nerve, huh? Simpler to call me a liberal and ignore what I just said than to actually address the claim.

They want us to fight you know..

Divide and conqor..... Most, if not ALL polititions, lye, cheat, and steal. Bush is no exception. Clinton sold us out in Somalia, Bush is selling us out to the Chinese, Mexicans, and Indians. Anybody left supporting Bush, needs to wake up. Im definately no tree hugger, but Bush, and his entire administration, should be tried for treason!!! We the people are not being represented by our govt. We represent them in war! IMO, there is very little difference between the parties, and neither of them represents me. Untill we quit saying garbage like, " It could be worse", or " If you dont like it leave it", were screwed. You think Jefferson, or Hamilton didnt here that crap on a daily basis? Being a patriotic American, to me means, challanging all forms of imposed govt. My rights end, where yours begin. And vice versa:

Slick Willie's Policy of Cut and Run

Black Hawk Down, Embassies bombed in Africa and a direct attack on the U.S.S. Cole, Clinton's response? Cut and run, rhetoric and one missile fired at an apirin factory, Willy's excuse for the aspirin factory? Faulty intelligence. Result: The terrorists gained confidence that America doesn't have the guts to stand up to them. Fight 'em there or fight 'em here.

The War in Irag may not be the perfect answer. What is?

"Fight 'em there or fight 'em here" Is using flawed logic. By fighting them there we're only making more to fight here! The whole iraqi war has only furthered 'their' cause and provided means for uniting and enlisting most the middle east against US! The iraqi war WASN'T the perfect answer, or even a remotely GOOD answer, it was in fact the WRONG answer. I love a good war as much as the next red blooded amurican male but you CAN'T be rolling the dice with so many lives simply because it seemed like a good idea at the time. Rumsfeld should pay for his incompitence, bushie boy too...

All of these arguments are tangent to the point of this thread: The president, who has repeatedly denounced leaks and leakers, authorized releasing selected (incorrect) parts of the NIE to the media in order to bolster support for the invasion of Iraq.

*That's* what this thread is about.

I was just trying to point out that clinton's not actively sending my friends where they don't belong.
Oh, no,no,no, my friend - remember Somalia? America's best of the best hunted down and butchered, their bodies dragged thru the streets? Who sent them on that suicide mission with no gunship support - which would have brought them home alive, or at least given them a fighting chance? Who sent them?

Clinton, that's who. Slick Willie - the Greasy Weasel. His negligence, incompetence, dereliction and slipshod "leadership" sent America's finest on a mission that was half-assed from the get-go and insured that they would never return to their families.

Don't ever forget it.

*COUGH!* Iraq...except now we're into the four digit range of those dead, quite unlike Somalia.

How many dead are required before it's significant? What's the acceptable difference in the number of dead before one action is ok and another is not?

For me, or for the people that sent them there? For me, it's a big fat zero. In actuality, it all comes down to cause and necessity. The motives being the deciding factor as to whether it is acceptable.

How many dead are required before its significant? To me, one person, one human life. How can anyone measure it by anything else? *shrugs* I don't know. I believe 35 Americans have died this month in Iraq, and we aren't even halfway through April. But let's not worry! We haven't even broken the 3,000 mark! Vietnam was 60,000! Now that-- THAT was significant

And then we come to the deciding factor of motive. If Red China launched a missile attack and had its landing partiles parachuting in and storming our shores...would not a million dead justify the defense of our nation? If one soldier abroad dies because of a politican's dirty money or interests, is that not a waste and a tragedy?

When was the last time America had to fight an invading force? When was the last time it had to defend its own shores?

Different people will have different answers for this. Afterall, a lot depends upon your own point of view. There is the law of action and reaction though, and it has to be considered when you look at things like the War of 1812, the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and even the Civil War...

America is blessed with a geographic isolation that no other nation shares. Two grand oceans, the vast Canadiant wilderness, and...well...Mexico. But I digress. Maybe a little isolationism is the order of the hour. But then what do I know?

If one soldier abroad dies because of a politican's dirty money or interests, is that

Even though I agree with you in principal..... I believe they passed protecting thier brothers, upholding thier family heritage, or just maybe protecting the constitution, and the idealistic dream, that is America...

Oh, I musta struck a nerve, huh? Simpler to call me a liberal and ignore what I just said than to actually address the claim.
What claim? All I hear are Kennedy talking points. If you want to debate one of your claims then here goes: Lets start with the "leak" claims. I have three questions for you. 1. Was Valerie Plame a covert agent undercover to protect herself or was she just a plain old analyst? 2. Does the president of the United States of America have the authority to declassify anything? 3. If she was covert will Vanity Fair and her husband Joe "yellowcake" Wilson be prosecuted?

You are a liberal. You give lip service as to being unaffiliated but every post you makes is some kind of crack at conservatives. Come out and be yourself, stop with the pretenses. You hate Bush so bad but what will you do when he's gone and a REAL conservative wins the White House? Call John Kerry and see if remembers what his VVAW buddies plans were for those in power?

The iraqi war WASN'T the perfect answer, or even a remotely GOOD answer, it was in fact the WRONG answer.

I repeat, what is the answer?

Maybe if something significant had been done before Dubya had the mess dumped in his lap we wouldn't be in the mell of a hess we are now.

Somalia and the U.S.S. Cole were pretty much ignored by slick willy, guess he was distracted by "bagging an ugly chick", and trying to bag others? the only time he did ANYTHING even slightly significant was as a diversion when his dirty little secrets started to leak out.

Right on mxwelch! 1.Valerie worked at Langley as an analyst. 2. Yes. 3. Of course not.

To answer:
Q#1: I do believe that she was a covert agent at the time, else there wouldn't be an investigation. YMMV.
Q#2: Yes, which I believe I said in the first sentence of my post.
Q#3: I have no idea. They're not being investigated AFAIK.

You are a liberal. You give lip service as to being unaffiliated but every post you makes is some kind of crack at conservatives. Come out and be yourself, stop with the pretenses.
No, not every crack I make is directed at the conservatives. In fact, most aren't. There's a big difference between "conservative" and "Republican" these days. If you go back and look you'll see that the Dems aren't exactly getting off scot-free. Whaqt you can't grasp is the concept that it's possible to dislike both parties.
You hate Bush so bad but what will you do when he's gone and a REAL conservative wins the White House?
I'll be a good deal happier. I can't wait to see it (It's been so long since I've seen a *real* conservative)
Let's quit trying to derail the thread and get back to the subject at hand.
