Best wheelgun you ever had?

For me it would be the revolver I have owned the longest and still have. A well worn Ruger Police Service Six 4 inch. Still is more accurate than me and is tough as nails.

I am still considering myself a newbie to revolvers with only two guns and third on the way, but I really want to participate! :D After asking millions of questions on the forum I ended up with this S&W. I think this is one of the last ones in this configuration. Technically as new as I could find it with no MIM parts and no lock. I love it, it's comfortable and shoots much better then I

Dave T - That is a great looking revolver, I'm all about custom handguns that are made to fill a role that the factories don't provide for.

I own and have owned a bunch of very nice revolvers, but my "best" would be this Austin Behlert customized S&W 25-2. Back before S&W was offering short barreled N frames, shops like Behlert's and Jovino's were cutting down full sized guns for concealed carry. These guns were the ultimate big bore carry pieces back in the day.

This is another custom revolver that is pretty cool. It was built by Marc Krebs (Krebs Customs) of 1911 and AK fame back around 1987, it's a one off custom made for an IL cop. It is a S&W 28-2 Highway Patrolman .357mag that has been converted to .45acp and has had a ton of detail work done.

1957 model 28 6" (obviously no dash) Same year as my birth and my first Smith from long, long, ago.

Not a high end piece but I grew up with it, learned to shoot revolvers with it and it is a dear old friend.

Best one? Well my Ruger FT .44 Special shoots like a dream, carries well and is about as tough as they come. I really, really like it, it's my fave to play with and carry every place I can.

BUT, my Taurus M605SS2 has proven itself through carry gun hell and back. It's covered thousands of miles on horseback, been fallen on, dunked an unknown number of times, carried in wet waders, been there while doing hay, climbing trees, cutting wood, fixing trucks, welding and on and on. And by golly when you squeeze the trigger it's still as smooth as butter and it goes bang, every time. Has never missed a beat through thousands of rounds. Plenty accurate for HD/SD and close up vermin too. It is therefore the best wheelgun I ever had (have).

The best wheelgun I've ever had would have to be the Freedom Arms Model #83 454. Yeah, it's expensive but it is a rolls royce of wheelguns. It has such a superb trigger and inherent accuracy that it easily stands out head and shoulders above all of the other wheelguns I've ever had.

It's easily worth the price in my mind. It's THAT much better than your standard wheelguns. Ruger is nice and totally serviceable, I like Rugers, but Ruger vs FA is like Chevy vs RR.

I like Rugers better than I do S&W. I look at the overall value as a shooter. Handling, strength, accuracy, overall fit and finish as compared to price of the piece. The FA has it all.

I've fondled a couple FA's in the past and should have picked one up.
Hard to shoot with all that drool on it every time I hold it though

Best one? Easy - this one.

Nothing special, just a 4 inch 10-8 .38 Spl, very accurate, fun to shoot. It was also my stepfathers revolver, and will be my son's after I pass on.

Not flashy, but here's mine.

A well-used Model 10-10 that I picked up from Bud's online. It was an Aussie police gun. I really like the 4" heavy barrel and RB combination, plus that it has a non-serrated trigger. Kind of an interesting combination of features.

This gun is just a delight to shoot, and has an amazingly smooth DA trigger pull. It is THE gun I use for teaching first time shooters, and it pulls 24/7 HD duty in my home (has its own mini safe and everything). Of the 50-ish firearms I own, this humble old Smith really shines.
