Fortunately for me I still have it. It's a custom version of a gun S&W never made, a blue steel Mountain Gun in 45 ACP. All the factory guns in that chambering were stainless (the 625 models). This one:
was built from a M25-2 that had a 6.5" Model of 1950 tapered barrel installed. My gunsmith shortened it to 4", pinned the ramp to the barrel's rib then the front sight to the ramp, the way S&W used to do it. He then round butted the grip frame (all Mountain Guns are RBs) did a fine trigger job and action tune, then fine bead blasted and blued the whole thing.
It not only looks nice, it is the best handling and shooting DA revolver I've ever owned.
Well, as of today, is in my blued Lipey's Ruger SA .45 flattop Convertible with 5 1/2" barrel. Action has been tuned by Munden Enterprises and it just shoots like a dream. I can't ask for a better handling/shooting revolver. If there was such a thing as 'the' perfect pack'n pistol ... this would be it in my mind.
My Smith & Wesson Model 21 Classic in .44 Special. I bought it slightly used for $600 and love it. Buttery smooth action, very accurate and beautiful to boot.
I owned a 1939 manufactured S&W Registered Magnum 5" .357 for about two years, before it was burglarized from my home while at work. A revolver that nice today would retail for at least two grand. It was some piece of work.
Freedom Arms, large frame - model 83, 5 shot, 4 3/4" Octagonal barrel
in .357 Mag --- I ordered it about 2 yrs ago - and I've had it about 18 months now ....and I still can't believe how smooth it is and how accurate it is....
