I got asked what the best revolver I have ever had was and I told them it was my taurus 38spl. Just wondering what other people would answer

Unfortunately, I have not shot that many revolvers. I only own one, a Colt Diamondback 2 1/2" in .38 special. I love the SA, but would like to get an action job to improve the DA. Aside from that it is the best revolver I have shot and the best I own.

i believe it would be ....

my 1991 colt 45 acp in auto ...... have taught 2 , or three females to shoot this gun with a little help and the right info given to them on what to expect when firing the gun .

in a revolver it would be my mod 19 followed closely by a 686 ...both s&w revolvers ....... cant beat a s w trigger in my opinion

Depends on how you define "best".

Smoothest DA is my S&W registered magnum but I don't shoot it best because of my old eyes and it's thin half coin front sight.

My old 6" blue Python is among the most accurate as it shoots as well as I can. Largely since my departed dad gave it to me it is the last gun I would part with.

I own 3 other revolvers that also shoot as well as I can. All have long barrels. One is a late 70s K22 with 8 & 3/8" barrel, a 3 screw Ruger .30 Carbine, and a Freedom Arms .454. The latter 2 sport 7.5" barrels.

For me, it's my second year of production Ruger Securitysix .357Mag 4" Blued. Glass smooth action (I suspect it has been tuned) and pretty well accurate. The gunshop owner where I bought it actually apoligized for the rough grips (oversized wood target style) that had been sanded by the PO. But... they fit my large hands like they were custom made for me! A little refinish and they were perfect!
It likes my handloads in both .38Special and .357Magnum.

I cannot answer this question with a cut to one revolver. I have a S&W 500 snubnose that is beautifully made, strong as a tank, and will survives several lifetimes of medium or reduced loads. It is made for defense against dangerous game, and fits the bill, but is still a hoot to shoot, just for fun. I have two other S&W's that are perfect for their use or design: a K22 that prints a 1-1.5" group at 25 yards, with a sweet action and fine craftsmanship, and an old 2nd Model Hand Ejector converted from .455 to .45 Colt, and barrel cut to 4" - it is a fine defensive gun, as tight today as it was in 1915, and more accurate than I can hold. There is one more; a Ruger Security Six in .357. It is near new condition, still has a stiff action, but is stronger by design than any comparable sized S&W or Colt, and also more accurate than I could hope for. None are very pretty, but all are fine utilitarian weapons. I prefer the moderate blast of the .45 Colt to the .357, but the .357 has its place, and for defense, I would be right at home with either. But how can one pick a defensive gun over the pure fun to be had with a K22 in the woods?

Best owned would have to be my 6" Colt Python.
Best shooter would be my Colt Officers Model Match, followed by my Smith model 66.

Best owned and shot is my S&W 686. Great trigger and really a tack driver.

The second best I've shot is my buddy's Ruger GP100. Accurate with a very good trigger. Not S&W good but very close.
