Carbon_15,

Sweet looking gun. Did I ever mention that I prefer matte stainless along with wood grips?

Tamara,

I still think your Performance Center model 13 is one of the best looking guns I've ever seen. If you ever want to sell it...

glockorama,

I would have to say that the model 13 is one sweet gun (I have the 65, the stainless version so I must get a 13 to complete the pair).

A local dealer has a few that he just picked up from a police dept that actually still had a few laying around. One is a 13-2. They all seem to be in good shape with one being almost perfect cosmetically as well. Unfortunately, he plans on parkerizing the others (they have some wear to the finish but aren't too bad).

I didn't pick one up, but almost did, because they all had 4" barrels. My 65 is 3" and I think K-frames look best that way. If one of these had a 3" it would be in my "collection" now.

"As soon as I get access to a digicamera, I'll post some pix of my Model 28 with the Ivory grips." -- Mike

Yeh, yeh, yeh...we've been hearing that for months.

Put up or shut up, Irwin.

My choice in stainless? Pretty hard to beat a Model 66 with some fancy Nill or Hogue wood on it.

Mama always said, pretty is as pretty does ...

I guess the best looking .357 will be a Python -- an older one, with the "Royal Blue" finish and nice wooden stocks. Personally, I'd go for a six-incher.

The Pythons hold their value pretty well, which helps justify the purchase of a "looker" over a "shooter."

Next on the list would be an older Smith, perhaps a well-preserved Model 29.

Go used, and take your time.

Personally, I have an irrational fondness for the Smith "Combat Masterpieces" in .38 Special (aka Models 15, 67). Some of the older, pinned barreled examples are surprisingly good looking, especially when fitted with nice, aftermarket wooden stocks. And they're more agreeable to my budget than the Pythons! ;) Of course, these guns are SHOOTERS, and I've never met anyone else who shares my opinion about their looks, so ...

:)

Old, gorgeous blue, five-inch barrel, Smith 27-2, pinned and recessed -- classic beauty never fades.

Make mine an SP101 with 3" barrel

I like the looks of the Ruger SP101 with the 3" barrel. I am presently looking for a good used SP101 with the 3" barrel - a model that is difficult to find. I'll find a good used one because I just GOTTA-GOTTA have one!

My cousin, who is a former LEO, at one time had a fine collection of approximately 35 handguns. He has one left; guess which one he kept? Yup.......his COLT PYTHON.

Oh, and by the way.........

I'm going to date myself but hope one of you can answer my question.

I'm originally from California and as a young man, applied for and was on the waiting list for the California Highway Patrol Academy in Sacramento. Some legal trouble bagged that but............
I remember the hog leg the CHP used to carry around as their service piece. It was a six-shot .357 mag with about a 6" barrel, blued with wood stocks. Quite a fine and very intimidating piece.

I believe Smith and Wesson made these guns but can anyone tell me what models these were? Are they still around? How much $$$??

Gotta add that one to this list.

I wish I had my Model 28 4" with the ivory grips here with me in Pennsylvania. I could take a picture and post it...

Hey Mike! Are they target or magna style? I have a set of Magna's coming from Boone Trading for my Pre-28 6inch.

Dan Wesson Stainless .357 Model 715 4" with Houge Walnut Combat Fingergroove Grip. Sorry no pictures; trust me on this one!

Tony,

They ARE nice looking. But I could never get used to where they put the cylinder latch. Too many years with Smiths :)

Above all others:

Colt Trooper Mark V nickel plated, 4" vented barrel, orange front ramp sight and Colt black combat rubberized grips with the Gold Colt emblem on it.

My baby;)

The old FBI gun

you ever seen the old 3.5 inch barrelled Model 27 that used to be the nea plus ultra of savvy handgunners back in the thirties? Can't be beat for good looks in my opinion.

RogerC-

I agree with your comment about the latch position but that gives me more reason to practice, practice, practice!:D

This is kind of a strange addition to this thread....but I love this gun. Just for the hell of it........Shoot well
