BedSide Firearm

a revolver cause its dummy proof. and if something happens and I am not there I know my wife will not have to worry about trying to clear a jam. If it matters the revolver of choice is a .44spl and it is "her" gun. However if it came right down to it the revolver would only be my weapon of choice for as long as it took to get the shotgun from the closet; but thats a whole other can of worms.

Both. SIG P226 and S&W Model 36. And a flashlight. (AND a shotgun in the closet!)

The same gun - a G26 - goes from holster to nightstand drawer and back to holster. No need to think about what pistol I have in my hand. Trigger makes it go bang 24/7.

Glock 19 w/Surefire light next to the bed and Mossberg 500 in the corner. I'm just more of a semi guy, it's what I'm used to. I'm sure I'll get flamed for leaving them out in the open but I leave alone, no kids and I'm a very light sleeper. If I have company, I do lock them up in the safe.

I keep a semi-auto for home use... not the same gun as my carry gun. My reason? Honestly and seriously, it's because my home defense gun has the much maligned magazine disconnect safety.

I can have this pistol with a round chambered and nearly ready, but it won't fire without the magazine. I keep the magazine out of the gun and hidden elsewhere in the room. By inserting it, I can silently take it from unshootable as it lies there to ready to run, and I can do it quickly and quietly.

If a child or a bad guy were to come across this pistol as I slept, they couldn't make it work without a magazine. But I can make it work quickly and quietly, because I know where the magazine is.

I think it's a halfway decent plan.
If I have company, I do lock them up in the safe.
Jeez, your friends must hate coming over! Do they get locked up in the safe every time they visit?! :D

And Armsmaster270, you simply have got to peel those damn stickers off already!

Bedside HD gun is Ruger P90, which is semi-auto .45, 8+1 rounds, plus extra magzine.

I love this gun, works flawlessly, I feel very comfortable with it, I can run it in the dark, that's why.

I am more a knife guy if it comes down to close quarters. I have 10" custom bowie knife strapped to the frame of my bed and a flashlight with a Kabar in the knightstand and a rem 870 in the closet. The wife doesnt care for handguns AT ALL :(

Windicator .357 mag snubby on the nightstand. Utterly reliable with a short barrel to get on target quickly - I figure the intruder may well be entering my bedroom by the time I can bring the gun on target. Loaded with 125gr hollowpoints - fair amount of power since I may not have time to get a proper aim - hopefully still do damage to the non-vitals. If nothing else maybe all that flash and muzzle blast will scare him away long enough for me to get a better aim.

My bedside companion is a FH PS-90. I prefer it for the ambidextrousity, magazine capacity, short overall length, and the high velocity, low sectional density of the 5.7 round. It won't go through as many layers of wallboard as some other cartridges. My particular FN has a green laser and the REM-3 modification.

My official nightstand gun is a revolver, though I often also keep my carry gun of the day in the same drawer. I'm retiring my current Model 19 and switching to this Model 65-3. It was a police trade-in and has a very smooth action. The forcing cone is thinned a bit but still has some useful life, plus I only plan on shooting .38 spl +P in it.

A little polish helped a lot, though I didn't try to get every little handling mark out. I then went out and shot it so it is sporting some nice carbon scoring rings. :)

I choose a revolver to keep it simple and because it's low maintenance.
