As a handgunner, do you own/shoot AR's & Shotguns?

1) I have 3 ARs, all frankenrifles. The one with the BCM upper is my "go to" rifle.

2) Three shotguns: 870 Tactical, Saiga 12, Rem 105CTi II. The CTi is used for clays, so it gets shot the most. I'll use the 870 and Saiga occasionally just to make sure they work. If I needed a shotgun for defense I'd likely go to the 870 first.

3) If I need defense right this moment, it's a 1911 in 45ACP. If I have a few moments, I'll grab the BCM AR; it's the one outfitted with an optic and a light. Depending on the threat, I might go shotgun.

1. Do you own an AR and if yes, what type? How often do you shoot it?

Nope....i am partial to .308 and 30-06 over .223

There is more than one type/caliber of AR's. An AR-10 is a .308, I am building one now.

My ar is a Bushmaster, with a trijicon . I don't shoot it very often. It is not in my home defense plans, as it stays locked in the safe.
I own several shotguns. The HD shotty is either a maverick 88, or a Winchester 1300. I shoot these shottys only about every 3 mos. I shoot my Benellis nearly every week.
I won't go into detail about the whole HD strategy, but probably the most important part of mine are two large dogs. One barks at anything that moves. The other doesn't bark much, just sneaks up on you, sticks his nose in your crotch, and waits for direction. I have not had anyone sneak up to my house (that I'm aware of) in three years. IMHO, a hundred pound set of teeth is the best home security system I can afford. They are great companions, and babysitters for my kids too.

I own several handguns and try to shoot regularly. I do not own an AR, but I do own several mil surplus rifles and hunting rifles. I also own a 12ga shotgun.

The handguns get shot fairly often but the long guns don't get out as much.

As far as HD plans, my shotgun is loaded and fairly handy, but my primary HD gun is a handgun.

If by AR you also include...

The AR-7, then yes, otherwise it's an SKS.

I used to own an old Savage bolt action 20 guage. It went to the wife in the divorce.

1. I have 3 ARs. A DPMS LR308, a Bushmaster Predator, and a DPMS Lo-pro.

2. I have two shotguns. A Browning BPS 12g, and a Browning Maxxus 12g

3. The only thing I would use my ARs for in a defensive situation would be long range stuff. The shotguns, although they are long barreled hunting guns they do have some roles as defensive weapons, especially against a four legged threat.

1. Do you own an AR and if yes, what type? How often do you shoot it?

Yes, I have a LMT/BCM hybrid. I don't shoot it that much, but then again, I haven't shot much of anything this year.

2. Do you own a shotgun? What gauge? How often do you shoot it?

Not yet. I've long planned on getting one, but I always seem to get other stuff first.

3. What is your tactical home defense plan with the AR and Shotgun?

Primary weapon is my 1911, it's what I'm most competent with. But the AR is right there, next to the 1911.

1. Do you own an AR and if yes, what type? How often do you shoot it?

I've tried to convince myself that I want one. Never have.

2. Do you own a shotgun? What gauge? How often do you shoot it?

12 gauge - Remington 870 Express (18 inch barrel)
20 gauge - Beretta Silver Pidgeon Sporting
410 - H&R Topper (hand me down from dad shortly before he passed)

3. What is your tactical home defense plan with the AR and Shotgun?

Grab the Remington and pray fervently.

All most people need is to hear that distinctive pump sound come from the other room.

Is there even one documented case of this actually occurring? Regardless, it always makes me smile! I wonder if firing up a chainsaw in the other room would be equally effective!

im more of a long gunner than a handgunner.

i own several ar parts, so im almost there.

several shot guns, all 12ga.

my primary hd gun(s) is shotguns, cx4 storm(.40), and lastly my 1911.

1. Do you own an AR and if yes, what type? How often do you shoot it?

No. I don't own one and I don't think I ever will. I consider it a varmint gun and I don't shoot varmints (4 or 2 legged ones).

2. Do you own a shotgun? What gauge? How often do you shoot it?

I have an old used 12GA side-by-side that I have never shot. One of these days I would like to use it to take up sporting clays.

3. What is your tactical home defense plan with the AR and Shotgun?

Except for 2 dobermans, I have no tactical home defense plan. I live in a very low crime neighborhood and don't feel the need to have a loaded gun at my fingertips. I also have kids in the house. All my guns stay in the safe.

yep

I shoot handguns way more than I shoot rifles or shotguns.
That being said, I don't think of myself as a "handgunner" but as a shooter who enjoys all of his firearms.
I own a bunch of pistols (20) but I own more rifles (+20) and shotguns (12). The shotguns get used for load development and during Upland game season and Turkey season. I'm going to try hard this year to add in some of the Clay games.
I do own an AR15. I don't shoot it as often as I should. It is a target gun exclusively, not in any SD plan.

I have 2 1911s for "defence" if ever needed.
I got my first AR about 2 months ago and a new AR .22 2 weeks ago.
The 1911s are getting shot more now.
Not much of a shot gunner.

All of the above, but do shoot trap, hunt upon occassion, etc.

The rule of thumb I always heard was :

If you miss with the shotgun, go to the handgun.....

if you miss with the handgun and they are still running....

go to the rifle.

Just joking...... LOL....

Very similar to me. My Galil stays in the safe. My HD is a Winchester 1300 or a Pardner Pump. My home defense is a .40 high cap, with the Pardner Pump at the ready. Without a shotgun in the house, I consider myself unarmed.

jimbobpissypants has the best handle on the 'net. :D

1. Yes: custom home built 5.56NATO middie (going to build one more complete rifle and a couple of uppers in varying calibers); shoot it about as often as I shoot my handguns

2. Yes: 12, 20, & .410; when I go small game hunting and occassionally one of the 12ga to keep the muscle memory up to date on it's handling and function.

3. for me to know and for the bad guys to find out, if they decide to drop by ;)
