Anybody getting extremely frustrated ammo hunting?

I am getting sick of this stuff. I only shoot 9mm and 45ACP but I can't find 45ACP anywhere and only sometimes 9mm. I am looking everywhere but I can't find it locally or online. I am down to my last 1,000 45 and 3,000 9mm which I'll burn up quickly. I don't reload, but was thinking about starting but I can't even get primers lmao. Anyone else having better luck or is it like this everywhere?

It's the same in Miami. Only shotgun ammo is plenty. Just go easy on it, till it comes back. My only concern is a price increase when it does.

I only shoot when I have some free time in between tests, and then not very often because 1)ammo is hard to find and 2)I just got into shooting handguns. But I just bought an LCP and can't find .380 JHPs ANYWHERE. Yes, it's aggravating.

Went to a shop last week about an hour from where I live and found they had about 30 boxes of american eagle 9mm and 10 boxes of wwb 9mm left. Now the bad news shop owner was limiting two boxes per customer per day. Also I now live in the great state of Illinois I couldn't send my brother in law in because no Foid card. So I go back next day nothing left. Now don't get me wrong I think I understand the reasoning but, its still frustrating.

Whats even worse is they have marked up everything else thats left on the shelf. I paid $4 a 100 for cheap ass primers today, and $25 for 100 projectiles that were $15 two months ago, the same box, sitting on the same shelf.

Well, as far as Wal-Mart goes, Id see if you cant figure out when they get their shipments in.

I work nights, so I often go to Wal-Mart at less than favorable hours. I went there on Thursday night at about 12am to find an empty ammo shelf, however I did find a giant stack of boxes nearby and employees here and their unloading things. I helped myself to rummaging through some boxes and eventually found a case of WWB 9mm. I only ended up buying 2 boxes of it, but hey at least it was there.

The employees were pretty understanding and helpful, you may find a different experience though. But if you can hit it on truck night you might get lucky. Im almost positive they always unload at night.

Not so much anymore. I've got enough .22lr on hand, enough so that I just pick some up when I find it, but not so little so that I feel frustrated if I don't. I've got enough factory SD ammo on hand. I've just quit shooting it, so the stockpile remains constant. I've got enough reloading supplies on hand, for the time being.

Ammo isn't what I've been frustrated hunting for, since I've just not been hunting for it. Reloading supplies, on the other hand... Even then, my supplies are finally such that I'm not stressed out of I don't find what I'm looking for. I find enough often enough so that my supplies are sufficient. Granted, I might not like the price that I'm having to pay, and I may not be able to get the exact brands I want, but at least it is available.

At least around here, you can find primers. Sometimes. They won't be the price you want, and they might not be the brand you want, but you can find enough to keep yourself in ammo. I've taken to keeping an eye on online sources and buying them in bulk -- that way you can spread the HAZMAT fee across many primers. Keep in mind that you may have to backorder them in order to get them. In the long run, that is acceptable -- better late than never. Powder seems to be more generally available around here than primers. At least with most handgun rounds, a little powder goes a long way. Less so with magnum handgun and rifle rounds.

I hit the mother lode (well, almost) here in Salt Lake City today. Walked up to the counter and there were 40 boxes of .9mm. Unfortunately, I was 3rd in line. First guy said he wanted 20. Second guy wanted 20. I asked them if they would consider giving up 5 boxes each, and they both agreed. Once they walked off, I bought the 2 boxes that I was looking for and left 8 for someone else. Someone else probably bought all 8, but I don't plan to shoot the 500 rounds that I have in the next few days. Had this been .380 I would have been a hog and taken all I could get/afford!

I buy ammo before I go to the range and keep 50-100 of my SD ammo (which my store aways has lots of) on hand. I shoot about 300 rounds per range session about every two weeks. I really have not felt the pinch of this whole ammo shortage, expect for the one or two times I had to visit 2 walmarts in one day. I also shoot the two most common calibers, .9mm and .22, so that makes a difference.

I find it interesting that I see posts about not finding 9mm or 45 but there's way more of that available locally than 32 ACP or 380.

Cabela's usually has at least some ammo. Primers nada.

More like angry rather than frustrated.

I was supposed to go shooting this weekend but if I can't turn over any .45s, I'll have to pass. I do have a couple of reserve boxes of .45s, but with the current hoarding going on, I'll hang onto them.

It might be time to get into reloading.

DO yourself a favor: place a couple orders online. Yes, they are backordered, but at least you have a place in line and will get some when they come in.

I did that every couple weeks for the last couple months. I'm not starting to get a steady stream of ammo as the stores get it back in.

anybody buying stock in the ammo companies?

Here in the Boise area it is the same, Ammo is extremely hard to find and sometimes I hear that someplace will have bulk 22 ammo but the price is well over $25.00 I heard that one place was selling bulk packs of 22 for as high as $38.00.

As far as the trucks at Wal Mart well most stores get trucks at least 6 nights a week some stores get 2 trucks, depending on the size of the store and how busy they are. But from what I can find out the Wal Mart Warehouse seems to be out of most types of Ammo as well. Not only bulk 22 but Rifle and Pistol ammunition as well.

Sure glad I reload and cast a lot of my own bullets as well. This is a weird time and people are buying everything they can afford when they find it.:)

+1 This works for me as well. Plenty of Blazer Brass in 9mm & .45acp if you know when it comes in & the time of stocking.
It's "every man for himself" unfortunately....:o

+1 magstang1 2500 rounds of 45 ACP 10000 of 12 Gauge trap loads. I think I am good for a year. Now if only i had to time to load all of it.

Pretty much most places in town that sell ammo in my area sell out within a few hours of stocking the shelves, at least the common calibers.

This is a case of increased demand meets inelastic supply.

There is no conspiracy to cheat you out of the ammo you want. There are just more people chasing it.

Want to help the WalMart ammo situation? Buy a case online instead of buying it at WalMart. You might have to wait a few weeks for your order, but it will get to you eventually.

I'm glad I reload. Yes, primers are difficult to find, but I've got a couple thousand small pistol primers (only load 9mm and 40 S&W) and I don't plan on trying to buy any more until this lunacy subsides.

My local gun shop is limiting folks to 5 boxes of ammo and/or primers per person–which I think is the right thing to do. People that are buying up everything they can when they find it are just adding to the panic.

Only buy what you NEED to shoot. Leave some for the next guy, even though he may be selfish and buy it all. It's been said before, but we're our own worst enemy.
