And heres my first question ?

No way would I pay that kind of money for a brass Pietta with bleached cylinders and a cheap holster.

The seller de-blued which in this case is something I would do anyway - I'm having great results with the Duracoat painting -- And I have no problem with a cheap -- even used holster -- hell I've bought brand new jeans that looked worn :D

Also -- look where I am -- for me -- this could be a bargain ;)

There's usually better deals than that on there.

Here's a general search low to high of all Black Powder pistols:
http://www.gunbroker.com/Black-Powder-Pistols-Muzzleloader-Pistols/BI.aspx?Sort=4

Feature auctions start on page 1. The non-feature auctions start on page 2. Sellers a pay little more to have their auction listed as a feature auction = it will be at the beginning of any search.

This one is tempting to me:

And yes it is possible to get good deals on there. Here's a Pietta 1860 that sold for $138 on Tuesday:

^^ True -- but now I be like-en the brass frames -- maybe steel later --

I just bought it

Depending on which cylinder I'll keep - maybe -- I'll sell the crappier one

And the holster is for storage & maybe for the range -- its not as if I can wear it in my back yard mowing my weeds -- this aint America here :D

P/S -- Stop showing me stuff :D

I dont know what my fancy is -- but when its struck -- I know it :o

Could have bought a new brass frame for 179.99. The cylinders have gone up since I last priced them but you could have bought it all brand new for 269.98

And heres #2 --

Every nip wrench I ever touched was the same size -- the one I got for the 1861 is to thick -- I'm still learning here

"I'll find that shut off valve if it kills me"

Larry Fine :D

Just tight enough to balance the pistol --

Then sand it all back just enough so with the green felt glued in -- its snug --

And it fits the 1858 Remington also

""Shouldn't but I don't own one so what do I know.:D""

( how do you guys quote ? )
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's a thing -- when I was just about to get my anti seize compound for the 1861 nipples -- I noticed that the 1858 nips are slightly canted outwards -

1861 cylinder --

( blue lines -- theres more spacing for the wrench to slide onto the nipple )

The wrench slips over the whole nipple --

1858 cylinder --

This cutout is interfering -- not wide enough ?

( notice the canting on the left & right nipples )

Doing a little searching -- I found this slot needs a little opening with a 1/4" sanding drum :D

This guy mentions it for cap loading @ T/I -- 5:56

And I thought it was just me ? :o

And I got a little nutz with the grip pocket using the wrong size sanding drum & keeping my good eye closed -- J/B Weld to the rescue --
