Ammo gone because of Fed...Sierra speaks.

I read an article sometime back (about February or so) that US ammo manufacturers had ramped production to around 1 billion rounds per week. Even if the .gov were buying 5 billion rounds per year, that would be less than 10% of the annual supply. A local gun shop in my very rural area managed to procure 2.3 million rounds of .22 LR around that same time. Even with one brick per person limits it was gone in around 6 weeks. One guy drove from Alabama to buy one brick. The government has nothing to do with it. The buying power of American consumers is unfathomable.

Good article, and sadly, I don't forsee this recovering any time soon. It really sucks because I've been wanting to get back out to the range for a long time now, but with the ammo craze and all, it's pretty much impossible sadly since I don't have the facilities to get into reloading (Not that it matters since materials are as dried up as the ammo stock)

Actually its improving. Gunbroker .22LR ammo auctions have now fallen to the low $60s per brick and dropping.

Its still too high for my taste, but its now moving in the right direction.
