But, WHO is buying from the flippers?

Is it new gun owners? Those who shoot a lot?

I don't know any of my friends who are buying from these jokers.

Obviously they do, or we wouldn't be having these discussions on a regular basis.

And, I have the funny feeling that no matter what is said in any of these threads, NOTHING is going to change the minds of the howler monkey conspiracy theorists.

And, I have the funny feeling that no matter what is said in any of these threads, NOTHING is going to change the minds of the howler monkey conspiracy theorists.

This is especially true since some howler monkeys in congress have joined the conspiracy theorists in perpetuating the myth.

Here are 28 pages of mostly .40 caliber ammo for sale on gunbroker:

http://www.gunbroker.com/40-Caliber-Ammo/Browse.aspx?Keywords=40&Cats=1012

And 31 pages of 5.56mm and .223:

Yes, people are buying the ammo on GunBroker but not as steeply priced or going as fast.

I have had a surplus of .22lr I have been listing with no reserve, 1200-1650 rounds in original packaging plus a free "field box" each listing, no reserve. First ones sold for $328 for (3 bulk packs of Federal 550) 1650 rounds a month ago and recently 1283 rounds went for $135. I paid $10 per 550 box back a few years ago. It is getting better...

I am now down to having 6500 rounds of CCI 22lr for personal use so I will not sell anymore. I don't wanna get up and go buy it from Cabelas and Walmart to make $40 as it is not worth it and the speculators are slowing also...

The panic of the new gun laws making their way through congress caused the shortage.

People who horded due to past shortages and all of the new and first time gun buyers added to it greatly.

CCW classes were buried in the past 5 or 6 month's. Now they are empty and one LGS went from doing twice a month to once a month. He also said his next class is scheduled for 6 weeks unless he picks more students.

New gun sales skyrocketed and caused gun shortages in some makes, models, and places.

When you sell that many new guns, you sell ammo too and everyone here knows how many new guns were sold after panic started.

It's not the first time panic caused a shortage and I once bought into the hype, shame on me for not doing my homework.

Remember everything on the internet is true, because they can't put anything on the internet that is not true....;)

I am happy to kick a conspiracy around if there were enough evidence, but look at JFK conspiracy. More evidence today that it was LHO and no second gunman. Not to mention how many facts were left out of the movie.

Do I trust our Government not to hoard ammunition? I wouldn't put it past them. However in this case they just had no real effect, through buying ammo, to the current shortage.

It is really simple, guys:

STOP PANIC BUYING!

This is a problem of our own making. Our own hysteria caused this. WE can stop the madness. For just one week, don't buy any ammo. See what happens.

Anyone know for sure, does buying and selling ammo with the intention of making profit require one to get an FFL as a dealer the same as it does with firearms?

Actually, better yet, the real problem here is that they aren't paying taxes on the money they are making running a business and that is what they are doing. That is the straight and simple of it.

No, it does not.

The pertinent ATF regulation is:

18 USC 922

(a) It shall be unlawful—
(1) for any person—
(A) except a licensed importer, licensed manufacturer, or licensed dealer, to engage in the business of importing, manufacturing, or dealing in firearms, or in the course of such business to ship, transport, or receive any firearm in interstate or foreign commerce; or
(B) except a licensed importer or licensed manufacturer, to engage in the business of importing or manufacturing ammunition, or in the course of such business, to ship, transport, or receive any ammunition in interstate or foreign commerce;

Notice that it says "manufacturing".

Perhaps we need to get the IRS agents off the tea party and move them to Walmart so they can do something useful, there seems to be enough black market ammo out there to pay of the national debt.......just kidding.

No, you are actually correct eldermike. Depending on the State or even local laws and ordinances, conducting business without a license can get them into real trouble. The IRS on top for tax evasion would just be icing on the cake.

Small pawnshop I stopped in today asked if I had ammo?
I said why?
He was willing to take "X" boxes of ammo as partial barter on a particular gun I was looking at..

Never, ever in my life had I been asked that.
Brass, ya it's kinda common but not ammo

Come on She3pdog, that is a long threat and you didn't reference a particular post's number or say what this is in reference to.

The posts in the threat are numbered.

EDIT: I think I found what you are pointing too, post #9 which is your own post on that topic.

I'm glad people are actually speaking out to debunk this conspiracy theory. Lord knows there are enough actual conspiring against us out there, that we don't need to make up new ones.

This is all of our own doing. I live three hours from cabelas KC store but visited on the 21st of May. I got there as they opened the door not because I am a hoarder or flipper but because my wife and I took my son to Great Wolf Lodge for his birthday. For those not familiar with that area or store, Cabelas and GWL basically share the same parking lot. I slipped over to the store while my little boy was still snoozing. He was worn out from the big water park the day before. I was hoping to find some varget to feed my 22-250s but no luck. However they had a shelf FULL of 525 ct Remington golden bullet bulk packs. I roughly estimate it at 300 bulk packs sitting there. I was shooting the breeze with a clerk when I spied all this 22 lr ammo. My first expression was "holy crow you guys have a lot of 22 ammo!" He laughed and said yeah right now we do. But he said they limit people to one box each and the stack will be gone by the time they close the door that evening. So I bought my one box. Except I brought it home and I gave it to a friend of mine who had no 22 lr ammo so he could go shoot his little pistol again. I have enough and he had none. That is how this should work. But because it rarely happens that way, we have people hovering like buzzards to pick up any scrap they can get. I feel sorry for the ones who legitimately want to shoot and cannot. I am disgusted with the jerks who will wait three to four hours to get a single $25 bulk pack of ammo so they can turn around and make $25 profit. $25/4 hours = $6.25/hour. That's not even minimum wage.
