Am I just a huge dork or...

I once had a 22 Beretta semi auto that I named what comes out the back end of a dog.

I do drive a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan with 296000 miles on it I call Gertie.

Good old American van.

She still runs great too.

I have a rifle I call "Reason" (if they won't listen to anything else maybe they'll listen to reason).

All of my carry sidearms fall under the code heading of "agenda" because if I'm printing or whatever my wife tells me she can see my hidden agenda.

Don't know about naming guns after living people - but I have named animals after guns. Had a dog called Colt and a cat named Rossi :)

Gun Dork

I figure that if the factory wanted to name it, they engraved it on there. However, this is a funny thread, there is a joke in here somewhere (or maybe an impersonation):
  • If you named your 1911 for a character from Dungeons and Dragons, you might be a GunDork.
  • If your children are named 30ought6 and 44Magnum, you might be a GunDork.
  • If you named your shotgun after your hair grow medication, you might be a GunDork.

Definitely Dork

Yeah, names for guns, tractors, chainsaws, kitchen applances, sweaters, blankets, pillows, shoes, boots, jammies, stuffed animals . . . pretty much pegs the dork needle.

I don’t think I name mine but I do call each by name.
Such as Sig 229 or my LCP, ect……

The ones I have 2 of : I just call them Old 226 and NEW 226

Even the wife knows each gun by ITS name.

But NO your not a DORK!;) I just have to many to try and name and remember.

Welcome, dork, from the biggest dork here. Every one of my handguns has a name. I only have one long gun, and I don't really care about it, so it is nameless. If one of em was "too utilitarian" as you say, I'd probably call it Jethro, or Zeke, or something of the kind. I just mull it over every time I get one, and when I come up with a name that fits, it sticks. My wife got me started, and it just has become a thing I do. Oh well, go ahead guys, pile on the dork points. Hey, at least I try to come up with fitting names. My wife calls her revolver Ruby. I asked her why, and she said "it just sounds good". Now there's a dork for ya!!

I believe a Dork is a whales reproductive organ. Which may or may not be a good thing to call a fellow. Even if he does name his firearms.

Yep, dork. Although I have a great passion for firearms and quickly become attached to them, I've never really seen the appeal of naming or assigning a sex to an inanimate object.

My guns are un-named. My shooting buddy calls his M&P "Black Betty" from the Ram Jam's only hit. Bam Ba Lam.
