a handgun that you would buy another of

I have a blued Taurus PT92, and I could see myself owning a stainless version in the future. The magazines and other parts are interchangeable, which are good enough reasons for me.

I'd like to have a S&W Model 642 to go with my 638 and I'd like to have a SA Loaded Champion to go with the Micro-compact and the Taurus 1911. I'd also like to have a Ruger SP-101 3" hammerless in .357 to go with the one I have WITH the hammer. So, Yes, I would buy a "Duplicate".

" a duplicate LC9 would actually be very practrical. My truck gun is now an LCR357, which is no slouch, just think a second LC9 would serve better there. "

A second LC9 would give common ammo between both guns, I'm a big fan of one ammo for all.

I have 2 Colt's SAA .45 Colt smokeless frame blue.
I have 2 Colt's SAA replicas smokeless frames.
I'm looking long term to get 2 Colt's SAA BP frame nickel.

The replicas are for playing or carrying in bad weather.
The real Colt's are for carrying and just because.
Oh, I do on occasion hunt with one of'm.

I have two CZ82 and several 1911 ( although not exactly duplicates in case of 1911 )
I would also conciser to buy another G23 if I'd find one for right price...

Did you need it?

Who NEED more than ONE gun? this is not about need, it is all about want ...:)

would different calibers and barrel lengths count? i have 2 ruger blackhawks...one 357 (6.5") and one 45 colt (4 5/8')

I carry a Kahr PM9 & will buy a Kahr CM9, which is a less fancy model of the same gun. I have several duplicate guns, both handguns & shotguns.

Who'd ever want to do that? :D

just wondering if you guys have a duplicate handgun or you have one that you want another of.
It depends on the price. Any gun I keep is a good one, and any time I find a duplicate, that I think is a bargain, I will buy it. That way, as opportunity arises, to sell one and make a few bucks, I can, without thinking I want to keep this gun because I like it. ;)

I have multiple duplicates of anything I carry/use.

Anything else, usually at least one of each action type so I can stay on top of them practice wise. Some of those are the remnants of duplicates I carried before and are whats left of those "lots".

The main thing is, its just the KISS principle. For guns you actually use, multiple guns of the same type/model really only make sense if you think about it. You always have a spare for what ever reason, if the need should arise. You have extra guns of the same type for others in the household, so everyone has commonality in both training and equipment. It lets you practice with the "same" gun, and rotate through them so youre not just wearing one out with constant use. Youre always shooting the guns you use, so you dont have to worry if your "new" emergency replacement is going to be an issue. Its the "same" gun, and its already in the loop.

This isnt just a handgun thing either, and carries over to long guns as well. How can it not?

Heck, I generally won't even buy a different gun in the same caliber as one I already own. Sure there are times when I'd like to have a nice matched pair of collectable handguns to hang on the wall but I won't ever do it. Personally if I really like a gun (the only guns I keep anymore) I'll shoot that gun. I don't want another like it and definetly don't need another like. I can't think of ANY reason a NON-LEO would ever NEED to have a twin.

Thinkin you NEED a twin is about on the same level as thinkin you need a multiple bugs and 100 rounds of ammo on you.

I have two airweight jframes. One I shoot a lot with and practice with more often, one I keep the round count down on and carry often. Same goes for my pocket guns which are Keltec P32's. My other carry guns, a glock19 and an SP101 I don't worry so much about wearing out.

Yes, I buy more than one of the same model often....

1911's ....
a. more than one Wilson - both 5" guns ( one of them is my primary carry gun
b. more than one Kimber...a 4" and a 5"
c. a Les Baer, an Ed Brown...
d. there will be at least one more Wilson Combat 1911 down the road...and in all probability it'll be another gun in 5" and .45 acp ..

Sig Sauers
a. a pair of 226's one in 9mm one in .40
b. a pair of 239's one in 9mm and one in .40

Revolvers...
a. a pair of model 19's 4" Nickel
b. a pair of model 66's 4" stainless - and a 2 1/2" just because...
c. a pair of model 29's - both 8 3/8" Nickel
d. model 629's in 3", 6" and 8 3/8" barrels
e. a pair of model 27's one in 4" nickel , one in 6" blued..

and I have some stand alone revolver models...
a. like a model 18 - K 22 combat masterpiece in 4" / but when I find another one, I'll buy it as well.
b. a 686 model in 6" ...but I may add a 4" or a 2 1/2" down the road
c. a model 617 6" .22 ...

and some stand alone semi-autos
a. like a sig X-Five in .40S&W ...haven't found a 9mm yet...but it'll come.
b. a couple of old High Standard .22's
c. a Browning Buckmark .22

and a few others I'm probably forgetting.

I had a great time at the range last nite...
a. a pair of model 27's ( .357 mag ) 4" and 6" - and 8 boxes of ammo
b. a model 686 6" ....357 mag as well
c. a model 18 ( .22 revolver ) - and 500 rds ...
and amused myself for a couple of hours ...in and out of holsters / doing some double taps / some reloads ( that I really suck at ...) ...but its a skill I'm working on ...

I'm a shooter --- and I shoot and collect what I like ! And when I choose to carry - I carry the gun I shoot the best ...so its a 5" Wilson CQB in .45acp.

Over time - I'll pass some of the extras down to the adult kids ..and grandkids .../ a good 1911, a good revolver, a good Trap shotgun, a good Skeet shotgun ...and a gunsafe ...and get their collections started - (before I pass on ) although only being 61 yrs old, I expect to be around for awhile. A lot of the guns I pick up - because I enjoy the search a lot - are used, at gun shows or shops that deal in used guns on consignment, etc .../ I enjoy the Hunt...and the shooting..

Wow--Nice collection of handguns (I would love to see your long-gun list as well but then again you've got me beat quantity-wise with handguns alone!).

-Cheers

I can't think of ANY reason a NON-LEO would ever NEED to have a twin.

Thinkin you NEED a twin is about on the same level as thinkin you need a multiple bugs and 100 rounds of ammo on you.
I suppose lifestyle and experience has a lot to do with "thinking". Thinking about yours, and knowing what you know, tends to determine "needs". It looks like some of us must lead different lifestyles. :)

Probably no point in bringing up "multiple" SMG's and other NFA goodies then, if a non LEO would never have any reason, or need to have a twin handgun or a BUG, eh? :D

None.
I've never understood having more than one of a gun.
The only argument that makes sense to me is that if you ever used a gun in a SD shooting you'd want another one to carry when the police confiscate the first one.
However, the combined odds of shooting someone, having the gun confiscated and then being involved in ANOTHER shooting before the first gun is returned are... remote.
Beyond that, I have neither the money nor inclination to have multiple copies of identical weapons. I'm not even interested in DIFFERENT guns that do the same job, say nothing of exact duplicates

Man , I'll bet you are just the life of the party!
