GUNSNGOLD

i just bought and shot an lc9 and the more i handle it the more i feel its the perfect gun for me, so perfect that im considering buying another.

just wondering if you guys have a duplicate handgun or you have one that you want another of.

i have duplicates of rifles but not a handgun.

None.
I've never understood having more than one of a gun.
The only argument that makes sense to me is that if you ever used a gun in a SD shooting you'd want another one to carry when the police confiscate the first one.
However, the combined odds of shooting someone, having the gun confiscated and then being involved in ANOTHER shooting before the first gun is returned are... remote.
Beyond that, I have neither the money nor inclination to have multiple copies of identical weapons. I'm not even interested in DIFFERENT guns that do the same job, say nothing of exact duplicates.

Back when I shot Bullseye Pistol I bought an IZH35M. My scores instantly jumped 30 points so I bought another for a back up. Still have both even though I no longer shoot competitively. I own a pair of Ruger 10/22 rifles also. One with a scope, the other without.

The only time I will buy 2 of the same gun is if I carry that gun and I like it enough where I want one to keep pristine. With that being said I have never liked a polymer semi-auto enough to buy two of them, nor do I see any polymer pistol ever becoming a safe queen. Gett me an all steel semi or revolver though and you can bet I will be yearning for a second one.

I'm tempted to get a second Ruger MkIII, just the cheapest blued version, so I could have it for friends to shoot and to train newbies. Maybe one day - can't really justify the cost now.

I wouldn't buy duplicates but my two favorite handguns are:

S&W 4006 .40cal autoloader

Ruger Speed-six blued 2 3/4" .38spl

Both are out of production, however, If one of them were lost, stolen, or irreparably damaged (God forbid!) I would search unendingly to replace it, price be damned.

Mostly only with milsurps. Like different variants, or county of origin of my 3 TT-33's. Also thinking of another 1895 Nagant and maybe because they are so great for the money add a second CZ82, or P64.
Maybe in a commercial firearm not the exact same, but different barrel length.

No not the same gun but maybe the same platform. I really like the 3 in barrel J-frames. I'm always on the hunt for CCO sized guns, but not the same gun.

PK, I can think of two reasons for having (reasonably) identical guns, off the top of my head:

1) Competition, and

2) Schools.

In either case, it sucks to be in the middle of one and suffer a malfunction that you can't fix on spot. It's nice, when allowed, to just be able to retrieve gun #2 and continue.

I'd be happy to own variations of some of my guns, not the exact same model though.

The exception would be a matched set of Colt SAAs for cowboy action dress up, oops I mean cowboy action shooting.;)

I'm waiting for shipwrecks response :D

+1 on two Colt SAAs, but I have a long list of wants before I start doubling up on pistols.

My budget doesn't allow for seeking out twins/doubles of what I already have. The budget and my undying need to buy something different, cool and fun would endlessly divert funds to a different purchase.

I absolutely would buy something different for the EXACT same job/role/purpose, but buying a twin of something I already have isn't likely to happen unless I were wealthy.

I have duplicate Buckmarks and S&W 686s, different barrel lengths though. That makes them seem like different guns but really I couldn't explain why I have both, just because I needed more guns maybe.
