Wow. Why do people get in such a tizzy over caliber. People were stopping each other with .32 caliber black powder fairly effectively at one point. Tech changes people don't.
9mm gold dot fairly proven in the real world
.40 S&W gold dot......fairly proven in the real world
.45 gold dot ..... Fairly proven......
.38 +p gold dot ............
Do I need to run through the federal r Winchester offerings as well, hint ...... Fairly proven in .......
Point is all of them have pros and cons but those pros and cons largely fall into the statistical noise. Pick one, and as a much revered shotgunner once said BA/UU/R. OR buy ammo, use up, repeat.
Point is caliber is the most insignificant piece in a gunfight. The fight is the most significant piece. After that luck, skill, resolve and maybe reliability play a much larger role the a mm here or there.
I like .40 and .45. I have NO illusions of them being hugely superior to 9mm. In some minute ways they absolutely are but at the cost of capacity and recoil.
Hell they are all handgun rounds that pretty much suck in general.
My two cents. But I am not a leoswatteammembergsg9sealteam6boyscout nor did I sleep in a motel six. I have been around the block enough to know that .40 is a perfectly effective and proven round.......like .45.........like 9mm........like .38........like well you get the point. If you think a gun fight is about caliber I think you are paying too much attention to the word gun and not enough on the word fight.
High drag low speed internet commando signing of.
9mm is .45 set for stun or sum such crap.
