I think that 1911 really suck!!!

:p

That's why we are so attracted to them, deep down in our gut we all want and need to have at least one, or two 1911's

:)

Geez, folks! Don't get so heavy on my lighthearted remarks about the comparisons between "old" and "new". Loosen up, will you?

For the record: 1911s are very good guns. Glocks, SIGs and HKs are better.

Now now, Westtexas---control yourself. On the whole, I shoot my Glock better than my 1911. So I guess it all boils down to the individual shooter, right?

Combat Master? Who me? Do I need to be one to understand the strengths and deficiencies of a particular gun? Spare me the sardonic diatribes. We're all adults here (I think).

Precisely, buzz_knox: "One you respect, one you use" (A reference to Catholic nuns and Baywatch babes). I'll continue to respect my Kimber and continue to use my Glock.

BTW,

My Glock has the magazine capacity of a teenage blond. :)

My 1911 don't. :(

BETTER HOW?

Faster reset? More accurate? Better at flying off buildings? More rust-resistant?
How?

I believe you can find evidence to suggest no handgun performs its design function better than a 1911.

Or, you can believe the Earth is flat.

Now you're talking like a member of the 700 Club  Take the time to read all of my posts on this thread.

Wanna bet? I have fired my rugged $500 Tupperware gun over 1000 times at the range. Not a single FTF or FTE. With my beautiful stainless $1200 Kimber I routinely get FTFs and FTEs and something with the trigger that acts like it will cause an AD one of these days if I had partially pressed the grip safety when I cocked and locked the hammer. No problem; I only wanted it for the IPSC match. Never had that happen to me with my Glock.

Or, you can believe the Earth is flat.
Interesting analogy. For it was the innovative mind that wrecked the long cherished notion. You sustain that there is absolutely no gun in the world today that will measure up to the 1911 in any test. How much longer will you persist in this jaded delusion?

Love my 1911. My Glock even more.

Okay guys, time to hug and be friends. This is getting to be about as informative as a Ford vs. Chevy debate.

I'll just refrain from throwing my 1911 off a skyscraper as long as Rickmeister will keep his Glock out of the oven. ;)

OTISZ says:
My point exactly! COMMUNIST!
Communist?! Who, me? Nahhh. YOU'RE the Marx-man.

Here's a question for 1911 (ehem) "right-wing patriots". Let's see if you can answer it:

In what year was the Russian prime minister Peter Stolypin murdered, an event which the social democrats (later to become the Mensheviks and Bolsheviks) seized on to lay the groundwork for Lenin's Revolution?

Here's another:

In what year did the Chinese revolution take place?

Duh, need a hint?---An old and tired design. (How adequate)

PERSIST TILL PROVEN OTHERWISE

Funny part for me is I don't really care much about my 1911, although it's fabulously expensive, and I shoot it really well.
I love my Witnesses.

Put over a grand in an M20, sold it (gasp!). Just didn't like it.

Hey, all, betcha dollar we NEVER see Rickmister win his class at an IPSC match. Any takers? (Be too busy arguing 'merits' LOL)

At least you hung in there Rick (off the 'flat edge').........

(FYI -- I have fired somewhere north of 5,000 through the 1911, gotta jam on a (recovered) foreign case that wasn't shaped right -- someday I'll clean it, I guess.)

Mal, Tamara, or Oleg

Could one of you PLEASE shut this thread down? I started it in jest several months back as a spoof on something WildRomanian started. This horse has been rode hard, killed, tenderized, and finally pureed!
