I was just at a local gun store and paid $. 19.00 for a box of blazer 50 rds 9mm waddcutter fmj. no one else had nothing. MAN THIS SUCKS!!!!!

I just bought 5 box's of 9mm 115gr fmj magtec's for 13 bucks and only drove less than a half mile to the general store to get them but even that is high but add shipping to most any supplier it all balances.

I will keep saying this. "REMEMBER ALL YOUR LOCAL GUN SHOPS, STORES, and ONLINE DEALERS" that you've been getting ammo from. Remember the prices they've been charging. So people have to pay more because they simply NEED the ammo. (By the way, you only NEED a box or two of high quality ammo for defense - the rest of your ammo is because you WANT). But the point is; remember these dealers. Then, when the ammo scare and price gouging is over; and YES IT WILL END; remember to NEVER buy from these people again. And make sure you tell them WHY. While many of the shops have taken good care of their customers and charged normal prices, there's those that are taking advantage of people and their fear. Yes, it's capitalism. And I wouldn't have it any other way. But the LEADING FACTOR in Capitalism is the CONSUMER. They determine which companies prosper and which ones go under. And I for one hope to hell that "Cheaperthandirt" and MANY others online; as well as some people's local gun shops go out of business when this scare is all over. And the other locals who have taken care of their local customers will flourish with more customers and more profit. You sow what you reap.

I wish life was fair like that.

that much for 50 115 9mms and I would have taken to the counter to tell them they mislabeled it by accident.

Every now and then my local Wal-Mart has a few boxes of Blazer Brass on the shelves for the same old price of $7.40, the same price they've been for a year or more. I overheard one of the sporting goods employees tell another customer that they will order any ammo you want for the same price as it's always been and it should arrive in 8 days or less. Just go talk to your local Wally-world sporting goods employee. I'm not sure if they'll order ammo for you like the store near me, but they may hold a box or two if you ask nice.

I got WWB 100 box at Wal-mart for the same price $19.00:eek: I almost went into shock that they had any. But have been lucky twice they had some two weeks ago also:)

I just got a 100 round box at academy for 24.99

they would only sell me one box though... probably not a bad way to help out their customers

I'm not sure I'd blame the local shops for running up the prices. While I don't normally deal in ammo, I do have wholesale accounts with two large distributors who sell ammo. The wholesale prices have gone up dramatically, so if the ammo manufacturers haven't actually increased their prices, perhaps it is the distributors doing the price inflating rather than small dealers.

Probably happening to some extent on both levels. The local guys see bulk prices go up, so the knee jerks and they raise their prices more to try and get some of the action as well.

Picked up a couple boxes (9mm Blazer Brass) at WalMart last week for $8.99 a box. Also got a couple boxes of .40 S&W for $12.49. It's hit or miss and you gotta keep going in to see what's available. Most of the on line site prices have gone up a bit, large variation from site to site. As long as it keeps disappearing the way it is prices certainly aren't going to be going down.

I cant find any .9mm any where, not target or SD. The other day I was able to scoop 5 boxes of GDS 50 rounders at 32.00 a piece. I'll be holding on to those for a while.

little if any around here. Dick's got some in at a 'sale price' of 12.00 and sold out promptly - Rem Green Box 50 round.
no Wally has had any that stayed on shelf long.

I wonder if the prices are only raised at the retail level. To think so would be a little silly if you ask me. I bet the factories have raised their prices too.

By the way, to those who think there is such a thing as a "fair price," there isn't. The term, "price gouging" is a non-sense economic term which allows governments to intervene arbitrarily in a free market.

Just picked up 8 boxes of PMC Starfire 9mm hollow points for $15 each, (a friend got rid of his 9mm). I haven't seen them anywhere for under $20 & shipping a box.

45 ACP

I went to my local Wal-Mart and to my disbelief there on the shelf sat 2 -50 round boxes of WWB 230gr target ammo. And 2 boxes of 40 S&W 100 round boxes. I told the guy i'd take a box (50) of the 45auto. He scanned them and BANG $29.95.. What!!!! I told him to put them back i wasn't paying that for 50 rounds of target ammo..I bought a box (100) of the 40S&W for the same price $29.95.. Evidently the Wal Mart here is getting in on the gouging. This does suck!!

Stop buying overpriced ammunition (same with reloading components) and be vocal about the price gouging while you are at the counter. Personally, I'll stop shooting before I resort to paying ridiculous prices.
