Just a fun thread. What was your first handgun that you ever bought in your life?

Mine was the USP. 45 full size. On my 21st birthday. It fell on memorial day that year and the gunshop was closed but the owner knew me and knew I'd been looking through the glass at that thing for months. So he told me to come in on memorial day at 1pm. I showed up at 1255 and he opened the store just for me to get the paperwork done AND he had a special one ordered so I didn't have to get the display model. Ill never forget that. Still have the pistol too...

Hard question to answer...

I bought a single-shot black powder pistol when I was maybe 15.

I bought an antique Iver Johnson breaktop .38 S&W when I was maybe 16.

When I was 19 I bought a Radom Vis 35 9mm. Dad had to buy that one for me, but the gunshop owner, a long-time friend of the family, knew what was going on.

The very first one I bought on my own, after I reached 21, was a Charter Arms Undercover or Off Duty. Can never remember which one I have.

Browning Hi Power @ age 21. The one gun I most regret selling. Had to sell when I was in college because I was getting hungry with no job. Been thinking how to replace it lately. Paid $450 for it brand new in store in 1979.

Beretta 92FS at 26.

Got it at a gun show. Walked around all day looking for something that "spoke" to me. Spotted her 30 minutes before closing time - I suspect it was more likely lust at first sight than love, but love came later:D

The first handgun I purchased was a Sig Pro 2340 in .357 Sig. Looking back I realize I got ripped off on the deal but it taught me to look at prices and learn more about a gun before buying it. I gave as much for it as a new Sig Pro costs and it was already getting close to a decade old at the time.

I've posted this before,,,

But it's a good story and can stand a repeat.

ROHM .22 short revolver

It was 1965(?) and I paid $5.00 for it at a garage sale.
Just handed over the money and put it in my pocket,,,
I for darned sure didn't tell my Mother,,,
I was 14 years old at the time.

I still have the little thing,,,
It was forgotten in a box of stuff that I stored,,,
In my sisters attic when I went to USAF Basic Training in 1970.

The front sight fell off somewhere in the first month,,,
Later I told my dad I took it off so it would clear my pocket easier.

My Pop said that was a great idea.

When someone took it away from me and shoved it up my butt,,,
It wouldn't hurt near as bad coming back out.

.22 Browning Buckmark Silhouette pistol around 1989, still owned and operated.

Didn't get get another pistol until just after the last election

My first was a S&W 22A. Still have it and it still gets shot a lot (a staple in trips to the range). Can't even guess how many thousands of rounds have gone through this thing. One darn good gun.

Nice post Stressfire ... the 92FS was my first want (but was my second purchase). Will never forget coming home with my Father-In-Law who had just bought a Sigma. Gander was giving a coupon for every $100 you spend and my father in law had 4 of them. The extended family were all over at my house (Thanksgiving) and they were all like, you spent $400 ... on a gun??? (my sister-in-laws family is pretty gun negative). My Father-in-Laws defense? "Well Phil got 6 coupons." Everyone just looked at me.
But hey, the best $600 I've ever spent!!! :D

It's hard to remember but it's either the Star PD 38 super or the 1873 Calvary replica in 357. The more I think about it the more I think it's the 38 super.

I think we've had similar threads in the past, but always fun.
My first, a High Standard HD Military given to me by my Grandfather when I was about 14 or so. Fifty some years ago. Still have it, always will until it becomes my Son's. It still gets range time. Looks, and shoots great!

Thanks, pgdion

FIL was with me when I bought it, made fun of me the whole way home for buying a "girly gun"

Then I let him watch while I decapitated a target with it (2 mags of cheap magtech hollowpoints, plywood target), has never said anything other than "You got a good one, don't sell it" since:p
