Colt 1911 .45 ( Military Production made in 1914 Ser. # 668xx) I got it from my grandfather, who as an Electrician was rewiring a house. He found it under the house in a military holster and web belt.
Since nobody knew where it came from, he claimed it... That was back in the 40`s after the war.
Due to sitting in the holster ( for many years probably )it does have some pitting on the slide and frame, but it has been inspected and is still 100 percent functional and only cosmetically hurt.
Due to pitting and cold rebluing to some worn areas, it was appraised at only about half of its real value.
It was the first gun I ever shot.
My grandfather took me out shooting with it many times on his ranch as a kid, and I`ve shot it many, many times since I`ve owned it.
I don`t shoot it anymore due to sentimental reasons. I do own 2 other Colt .45 autos though that give me much enjoyment...
And yes, I still own it, and it sits on display on a special stand I made for it in the back of my gunsafe.
My grandfather passed a few years ago, and I still fondly remember him every time I see it, he was a wonderful man, and it is a wonderful gun...
