Your Carry Gun Ever Been Spotted?

I had someone ask me if I was carrying concealed for the first time yesterday at the grocery store. I was just wearing a t-shirt and it prints pretty easy as I don't make much of an effort o conceal unless I have to.

The guy was also a concealed pistol permit holder and notice the bulge as we were inline. We had a quick chat about what we carried and paid for our groceries without anyone else seeming to care.

I don't understand why, but it happens to me nearly every darned day! Maybe it's that open carry thing. :)

What is scarier is how many people don't notice an open-carried sidearm.

To me, asking someone (especially a stranger) whether they're carrying concealed is kind of like asking about their underwear: a little too "personal" for casual conversation.
If something's "peeking out" though, a discrete word might be appropriate.;)

Never by the general public, at least no one's ever said anything.

My fiancee knows I carry but she can never tell whether I am or not without actually touching it. Her parents know as well, but they can never tell where I am keeping it.

MY mother on the other hand makes it a point to darn near pat me down until she finds it, never says anything though. *Sigh

Your Carry Gun Ever Been Spotted?

Nope, unless you count the time my wife almost washed it but heard the "clunk" when she through my britches into the washing machine.

Concealed is CONCEALED.

Was questioned once. And I was carrying a High Power IWB about five o'clock, but the bulge being questioned was my sunglasses and PDA in the left inside pocket of my jacket nobody noticed where the pistol really was.

If riding a bike, air turbulence can give you away without your knowledge.

Getting Tagged

Not yet. I'll be glad to see Fall coming, it's been a hot Summer. I'm more at ease in the cooler months when I can wear a jacket or vest. In the Summer heast it's cargo shorts, with big pockets for carry or long T Shirts.

I was sitting in a chair at a car dealership, last week and as I leaned forward, I noticed that my revolver, in a clam shell holster, at 4 O'Clock was showing. I quickly pulled down the shirt and moved the chair back to that side. Just in case. No one appeared to notice.

Concealed carry is an art. When bending, sitting or standing up around other people one just has to just be a bit extra careful. Better safe than sorry.

To my knowledge, I've never been "made" but I was out with a buddy when he got it.

We were out to dinner one night and the waiter grazed my buddy with an elbow. My buddy was instantly like "Dude just got a piece of my gun." A little later he came by the table and asked my buddy what he carried.

The point being that I think it's something we worry way to much about. Almost all Courts agree that if you made a reasonable effort to obey a Law, you did all that the Law required.
I live in South Texas, it's very common to see Officers/Deputies open carrying a gun both on and off duty.

My niece hugged me in the funeral home one time, . . . looked up and gave me that weird look, . . . I told her it was OK, . . . end of conversation. I had my 1911, just like I always do.

I'm sure others have noticed, but she is the only one who ever said anything.

I actually unholstered at a Vet's meeting a few days ago to show one of the guys my holster, . . . no one had a clue I had a full size 1911 on me, . . .

I'm a firm believer that most folks are too wrapped up in themselves to worry about any body else.

And if I ever do get asked, . . . my answer is simple, . . . "Oh that, . . . it is a special backbone brace".

May God bless,
Dwight

Nope.

When ever I am with my wife I always tell what/where I am carrying and tell her to keep an eye on me to make sure I don't show or print. Recently I have started pocket carry with a Ruger LCP, and I have zero concern about being spotted with that. I switched from carrying a Kimber Pro-Carry IWB because we were at a local fair and it was crowded and I was nervous about all the people bumping and rubbing against me. When it gets colder and I can hide it under a jacket I will switch back, but the t-shirt over the 1911 didn't give me a lot of confidence.
