Your Carry Gun Ever Been Spotted?

I've been carrying Off Duty for over 34 years. Three times someone has seen my gun, well twice, a Lady hugged me once and felt it. I think if you make a reasonable effort to 'hide' your gun most people are so oblivious to their surroundings that they just won't notice. I've never been challenged by another Officer/Deputy. I think it's something people carrying worry about to much. If I ever had anyone ask me what my bulge is I'd tell it's my Insulin Pump.

No, not when anyone has ever given any indication anyway. Several interactions with both on and off-duty LE, no indication.

I've said it before... "printing" is vastly over-rated. You could wear a gun under spandex or a wet suit and most people wouldn't notice.

A friend of mine at church used to carry a large 357mag in a shoulder holster. One day he was making announcements up front and when he came down off the stage his jacket flew open. The gun couldn't have been more obvious if it had a neon light on it. NO ONE gasped or yelled, no one but one person who already knew he carried (and who also carries) ever said a thing.

Once. My mom hugged me. I'd been carrying about six or seven months at that point, and hadn't yet learned to drop my gun side hand to force the other person to hug my shoulder on that side.

That was 12 years ago now, and I carry every day.

Printing is over rated I think.

I can conceal a 92fs well[around the house]. I am only 5'7ish and 125lbs, I put it in the 1 o clock, over my right pocket with a cant to the left.

If you don't believe me I will post pictures later.

When you put it on your back side, around 4`5 o clock spots, it prints when you bend over and its hard to sit down with it there.

about 10 years ago a girl at the office was sitting in a chair and I was standing leaning against a desk. Her face was 18" from a J-frame bulge in my pocket. I looked down and she was staring. I made a comment about her staring at my crotch and I didn't stare at her chest. She later asked if it was a gun and I fessed up.

Spotted by the public, no.

But, my twins 5 year old boys for a couple of years have loved to pat daddy down looking for his gun.

I live in an either/or state and many times don't make much effort to ensure full concealment. I'd say the gun has been noticed less than 50% of the time WHEN OPEN CARRIED. To my knowledge, I've never been noticed when carrying while making an effort to be concealed. Occassionally, I will pick out another person carrying concealed(including nonuniformed cops).
I thought I'd been "made" today while pumping gas. I got out and turned to slip on my vest and the super yuppie soccer mom with the queer green foreign SUV looked directly at me and made a grimace. A couple of minutes later, a police car pulls up on the opposite side of the pumps. Casually, I looked around the corner to see if he was coming after me but he was headed for the slurpy machine at double time. Guess the yuppet was just grimacing at my decade old pickup and trailer being so near her shiny ride.

Well kind of. I have been trying to figure out a good way to tell my mother that I carry. (I did already btw and she was totally cool with it) Anyway she saw the end of my Serpa holster sticking out from underneath my shirt. She said that she thought it was my cell phone and though it was stupid that I kept it behind me. The funny thing is that she has seen me take my cellphone out of my front left pocket many times.

My wife can always tell when I'm carrying, she knows where the natural bulges are supposed to be...:D

Az. is an OC or CC state. OC is quite common. Once while OCing in a Burger King, an elderly man came to me & asked how he could get a permit. We had a nice conversation about it. No permit is needed for either carry, but I do have a CCW.

Yep.

Blued steel 5" 1911 under a whit t-shirt at a pool party....... some smart*** pushed me in...... negative buoyancy with that........

funny but true stories...

I've had valid carry licenses & county issued permits off & on for about 14 years.
Years ago, on a windy day I had my army surplus OD jacket blow open & reveal my shoulder holster with a loaded Beretta 96D .40S&W. A young teen saw my pistol & holster then shouted; "he's got a gun". I looked directly at him and calmly stated; "yes, and I also have a concealed carry permit".
Another time in the same area where I lived I went into a large drug store in the brisk winter weather. As I walked in main doors, loud buzzers & alarms went off. I looked around surprised and a store manager informed me the security alarms were broken. It was a simple problem and we had a laugh over it. As I walked away I discreetly told the manager that I thought it was my concealed pistol & showed him the shoulder rig & holstered 96D. He gave me a sly grin and said; "no problem sir, have a good day".

ps; I also had a hug from my grandmother and she felt the outline of my Aker shoulder holster under my jacket. She gave me a strange look but didn't say anything. Lol.

Just once, very early in my LE career. No one had ever schooled me on the fine points of off duty carry, such as appropriate attire / holster, so my shirt was too tight. Next up was the fact that I was trying to hide my department-issued 5906 under said shirt while using an OWB holster. It also didn't help that I weighed about 170 at the time, while being 6'3. All in all, I guess I was asking for that confrontation with that K-Mart manager and the accompanying security guard, both of whom thought I'd shoplifted something. Hard lessons learned.:o Nowadays, it's a looser-fitting shirt, an IWB, and, thanks to weight training, weighing in at 225. Problem solved.

I don't think anyone has ever made me except my brother. I currently carry a PX4 compact OWB and it's pretty obvious to me when I look in the mirror, but people are oblivious.

I pocket-carry a J-frame. It looks obvious to me, looking down, but no one has ever mentioned it, including police officers.

I've been carring concealed for over 20 years. Never been noticed by anyone. ....I do wear baggy loose fitting clothing.

Once I ran into my aunt and got a hug in the grocery store, She was surprised at my carrying I guess becuse she yelled at the top of her lungs " Is That a GUN!?!"
I just quietly replied yep. A few people looked around, but as we live in a very rural area, nobody seemed to much care.

Not long ago I was at a Toyota dealership checking out a new Tacoma. I had my Kahr CW9 at 4 o'clock IWB. Well as I was crawling all over the truck checking things out the salesman noticed teh printing when I bent over, he said something to my wife and she just grinned and said "always"!. When we got in the truck to go for a spin the salesman said to me, "I noticed you carry, its ok I carry a Glock 31, but not on the job". Thats the only time someone has ever noticed me carrying.
