Your actions with respect to the Law

I live in the boonies, and I often hear shots, rapid ones time to time, not automatic....as long as No bullets came this way Id have no problem with the noise....
The pot smoking, it would concern me....there was a time I might have gone over and asked if they'd see my big bamboo copy of cheech and chong as it still had the original rolling paper in it...lol....Id be more concerned about the "element" that would be associating there. Only because I dont like thieves and drug users are responsible for a great number of thefts, and Im not trying to claim that all pot smokers are thieves, but it is the environment a great number of them run in....now as to would I call the cops, most likely not, I figure its his property he can lose it anyway he wants, now if he tried growing on my property, or stashing on my property it would be a whole different story. Also, If I had children around I would be more wary----wether you like it or not there are a lot of people in jail who did criminal acts that either were on drugs (including alchol) when they did them or it was part of their lifestyle.
Hey has any one seen maryjane? and did anyone in there memory ever hear pot called that except maybe in reference to that durn film they showed school kids?...fubsy.

Well, I would never use the "blood on your hands" argument for guns, a la Rosie. That's what all the lawsuit and S&W deal was all about--really stupid in my opinion.

The reason why I'd be easier on the shooter is because I pretty much view all 20th century gun legislation as arbitrary and ineffectual--except for some of those pertaining to hunting. Licensing full auto weapons did not decrease their already miniscule use in crimes, the assault weapon ban did not reduce the numbers of homicides per incident, and the Brady bill actually created some loopholes (was it doomed to fail on purpose?). Personally I am especially PO'ed about the AW ban, but that can wait for some other thread...So break one of those laws, fine by me as long as no one gets hurt.

As far as the drug thing goes, I stick by my points as to how it has over-inflated the MMM's "gun violence" stats. Tom Daschle is going to start reading the names of "gun violence" victims before each session now. Do you think the ten or so gang-bangers names he will read will be designated as such? If you make the case for pot vs. narcotics I ask you does a dealer specialize in one over the other?

I wasn't saying that alcohol shouldn't be banned because I drink it, but keep drugs banned because I don't do them. They are both liabilities in our society, and alcohol is responsible for far more many traffic deaths (approximately half) than other illegal substances. But if you make them legal, what then? What is someone on cocaine like while driving? Thankfully the legality issue has restricted this scenario from occurring too often. It is simply unintelligent to deny the potency of narcotics over alcohol. If you banned alcohol as well, I doubt I would miss it that much. I do know one can drink responsibly, but all the drug users and pot smokers I have ever known didn't quite master "responsible drug use." Even the mellowest of my pot-smoking friends regrets the loss of time they wasted while indulging themselves.

If you look at my original post, I said I would turn the smokers in if I had kids, or if they started dealing. It was conditional. Now I'm having second thoughts. Hang 'em high! How's that for being preferential?

Ok, after thinkin about it for a while, update:

1)
I'm out in the "sticks", agricultural land. Nearby,(about 1-1/2 miles) is a "labor camp". It's a large block of houses (taxpayer provided) that originally housed "migrant workers". These houses still rent dirt cheap, the lifetime residents get cut-rate utilities, and we have built them a preschool that puts anything we have access to to shame. There isn't a legal U.S. citizen among them, most are on welfare, and drive nice cars. Every year on the 4th of July, the 5th of May(Cinco DeMayo), and New Years Eve, they have big parties out on the edge of the developement. Including multiple full-auto bursts and other gunfire. My garage has a metal roof, and when you sweep the floor on a sunny day you can follow the beams of light right up to the incoming bullet holes. You bet your a$$ I told the local sheriff about it.

2)
A mile in the other direction, a resident reported a strange chemical odor not recognized as an agricultural product. Apon investigation, the sheriff's department busted a drug manufacturer operating out of a mobile home back in the field. They seized over $3 MILLION in finished product.

Guess it just depends on the severity of the violations, whether they warrant being reported.

The Bible is my lawbook. I turn the other cheek when applicable, and spend the rest of my days resisting evil at every front, until I have breathed my last breath.

"D" run over to "shoot the breeze"
About the weed. If I was at one of my friends place there wouldn't be any weed. If there was they aren't my true friends. If they are my true friends they'd know my feelings and not put me in that situation.

Be safe, MDS

PS: I'm not against weed. Just the laws and being consenquences.

I would mind my own business on both accounts. Though I can imagine instances in each case where I may choose to contact the authorities.
