Your .380 is preferred for type versus size?

A bow and arrow has been obsolete for several hundred years. A good archer is still a formidable foe.

Obsolete does not equal ineffective.

My small caliber carry guns are a Ruger LCP, because it goes anywhere, and an FN 1910/55, just because I like it.

what was the question?
LOL!
I don't think there was one!:D

Your .380 is preferred for type versus size?
The features and reputation are the main reasons for my final choice of the Sig 232. The style also has strong appeal from my perspective.
So features (unmentioned) and reputation along with style are the reasons the OP's "final" choice of a Sig 232

This explains why my first handgun (none until a year ago-age 59) is the WW2 Sauer 38H. It was/ is Not for 'carry', for those where are overly concerned about a .32 Auto. I'm very familiar with debates, evaluations etc.
He chose the Sig 380 (presumably) because he has an antique Saur in 32acp

Features and style resulted in the recent selection of a WW2 Mauser Hsc.
There is no reason to pretend otherwise-life is too short for me to be interested in only the modern 'cool' handguns.
But obviously the features, reputation, and style of the Sig "final" choice wasn't enough, because features, and style led to another antique!:D

Guess you missed the memo in post #22.

"Kahr made the 380 obsolete several years ago."

Expletive deleted! Them expletive deleteds made the 380 obsolete and then turned around and sold me one of the expletive deleteds!
EXPLETIVE DELETED! :D

Many world class guns come chambered in .380. They are popular for a host of reasons. No need for explanations or apologies. Use what works best, that you like and feel comfortable shooting well and don't look back.

.380 pistols

I have a Sig 230, a Walther PPK, and a Glock 42 in .380 ACP.

I also have a Walther PPK/S in .22 that I use as a practice gun for the P230 and PPK, in normal circumstances when I can easily find .22 ammo for a reasonable price . . .

Years ago I carried a Beretta 92F as a duty gun. I had a Smith & Wesson 39-2 that I frequently carried off duty because the manual of arms was the same as the Beretta. That was one of the reasons I got the PPK -- all the controls on those guns worked the same.

(Of course, the other reason I got a PPK was because James Bond had one. But I got mine in a bigger caliber)

Another gun I considered for off duty use was the Browning BDA .380 (which was actually made by Beretta). I knew somebody who had one and fired it a few times and really liked it.

Of course, you can get a Kahr or other small 9mm the same platform size as the BDA .380 that might be a better choice.

But if I ever find a BDA .380 at a decent price, I may buy one anyway. I have no earthly need for it, but that has never stopped me before . . .

JERRYS.: Do many of your prefer a certain type .380, because of its characteristics or (classic) features, despite not being the more compact sizes?

The vague title was to allow room for personal interpretation. Questions with yes/no answers produce less interesting discussions (from my perspective) than 'fill in the blank'.

I've only been into guns since '07 (age 52), for the most part only milsurp rifles, and handguns for the last year. No LEO experience and only military ops were AFRES/ANG many years ago, given only wadcutter ammo in their .38. Hence the need to try to catch up just a bit, if y'all see what I mean.

I've owned sig 380s before, both the light weight p230 and the all steel p232sl. the style of this gun is sexy and sleek. the recoil of these (blow back) guns made them poor choices for my wife.

my G42 is not near as sexy but far more shooter friendly.

I like .380s because of their smaller or tiny size. I have been carrying the LCP for 6 years, but it will be replaced by the new Kahr CT380.
Never carried the Colt Government (just bought it because it is a cool gun) and the old Remington 51 was toted by the wife's grandpa prior to WWII.
Used to have a KT P3AT and an AMT backup, but got rid of them because they were unreliable.

For a long time I didn't have a 380, I had a 32 Seecamp and really liked it then we actually got CCW in Ks and I started carrying a bigger gun and the Seecamp started gathering dist. I sold it. I started walking and riding to get in a little better shape and for a while I just used a fanny pack, after a while of doing this I tried just dropping my Beretta Bobcat in the pocket of my gym shorts. Then I decided to go ahead and get a LCP it's perfect size and weight for my purpose. I later bought a Colt Govt 380 as a novelty. It would be ok for carry but I can have 9mm power without any size weight penalty.

I am down to three 380s. I have been carrying an LCP for several years but like Armybrat I will be switching to the Kahr CT380. I have a Browning BDA because it is just plain sexy. I just sold my P232 and bought a P290 because I didn't have a mini 9mm.

Agree that the Browning BDA 380 is one of the handsomest pistols ever produced. It looks so good, and feels so good in the hand, that it's worth having just for those reasons.
