Your .380 is preferred for type versus size?

The features and reputation are the main reasons for my final choice of the Sig 232. The style also has strong appeal from my perspective.

This explains why my first handgun (none until a year ago-age 59) is the WW2 Sauer 38H. It was/ is Not for 'carry', for those where are overly concerned about a .32 Auto. I'm very familiar with debates, evaluations etc.

Features and style resulted in the recent selection of a WW2 Mauser Hsc.
There is no reason to pretend otherwise-life is too short for me to be interested in only the modern 'cool' handguns.

Guess I like the .380 because of the Ruger LCP.-a true 'pocket' pistol.

I KNOW but being a Ruger Fanperson I didn't realize it was true until Ruger said it was true.

BERSA .380 for me. Big enough to shoot comfortably and accurately, and the PPK good looks make up for the lack of pocketability.

I think the .380 has a place and I love Sigs. However, their .380 is so big I would just as soon carry my 239 and have a .40 cal bullet. I think the bigger frame .380s are easier to shoot than an LCP or my little glock. If am carrying one of my .380s its usually in gym trunks or shorts. At that point I have it because its better than strong words and a belly full of .380 will discourage most attackers enough to allow you to get away..

I had a KelTec 3AT however gave it away and still carry my old KelTec P-32 when I have shorts and no shirt. I like the extra round and how it locks back on the last shot. Not so snappy either and easier to control for a CCW. This is just my opinion and no one has to agree.:D

I'm confused too.... But I think you are asking why do people buy .380s? Because many .380s are small and easy to carry or because one finds a gun that they really like that just happens to be chambered in .380?

For me, I carry a .380 because my Ruger LCP can go places that my other guns can't.

All things equal, I'd prefer a different cartridge but there is a trade off between size and chambering.

I have had a Walther PPKs in .380 Auto since 1971. Was a Dealer at the time and if I remember correctly I paid about $67.00 for it whole sale. Of course I wasn't making all that much either in those days.

Carried in in a shoulder holster for about 7 years and when the blue was pretty worn, had it nickled. Still looks pretty much like new today with the new finish.

Without loading one in the chamber, dropping out the clip and loading another in the clip it is also perfect for our Safe Act :( 7 shot law.

Not a lot of stopping power, but after 44 years of not having to stop anyone, hasn't made any difference.

Elsie Pea. 100% reliability, more than adequate accuracy, light weight, and complete concealment.
Function over form for my CCW. It's a self defense tool, not a fashion statement!

Bersa Thunder 380.
Besides the size being right to fit my hand, it's amazingly accurate,
sweet trigger in single action and a long smooth double action.

Reliable (20 years now), and I really like the decocker.
That give a safe way to carry a round in the chamber with the
hammer down.

The lifetime warranty is the icing on the cake.

I'm with Cheapsshooter on this one,,,

I own three .380 pistols,,,
Beretta 85, Bersa thunder, and Ruger LCP.

The Beretta 85 lives in my GTM briefcase,,,
The LCP gets carried in a holster,,,
The Bersa gets range time.

Don't get me wrong,,,
The Bersa is a fine handgun,,,
In fact it's the fist carry piece I had.

I carried the Bersa and was very happy with it,,,
The only reason I switched to the LCP,,,
Was I acquired one by accident.

Since I had the danged thing,,,
I used the opportunity and opted for small.

The Beretta was just a purchase made from love of the looks,,,
I shoot very well with it so I do keep it in use.

I've since purchased a Ruger LC9 that I am very happy with,,,
I will probably opt to replace the Beretta in my briefcase.

I really enjoy the 'oversized' .380's like the PPK. Yes, I know they make smaller 9mm's these days - a CM9 will soon be my EDC - but they aren't anywhere near as comfortable to shoot.

I actually kind of hope for a .32 ACP revival. I keep getting outbid on Gunbroker, but hope to add a Colt 1903 to my collection someday soon.

Theres nothing wrong with the old "cool" guns, everyone should have a chance to own, shoot, and enjoy them. Old world style and craftsmanship is a hard act to follow.

Ive had a bunch of them over the years, still have one of my P230's. For a "carry" .380, one with realistic sights and shootability, up until my Glock 42, it was the one to beat.

For the "little" guns, somebody is going to have to beat Seecamp for that.

I do have another 380 in addition to my LCP. But it is not for carry. More of a classic design range toy. Beretta Model 34. Too heavy, and bulky for pocket carry, and I don't like the safety for cocked and locked carry. But it is a fun little gun.
I have always liked the looks of the Mauser HSC 380, and if one pops up for the right price I will have one. But for the same purpose as the Beretta. Just because I like it.
For CCW I am much more interested in reliability, and concealment.

I have a P232, P-32, LCP, snubby, and a PM9.
The PM9 recoils the least and is the most powerful of
The bunch. I tend to pocket carry the Kahr or LCP.
