I did not make this up.

Asked why bin Laden has not been captured yet, the president responded, "Because he's hiding."

Bush: Voters Ratified Iraq Policy

WASHINGTON, Jan. 16, 2005

(CBS/AP)
President Bush says his re-election proves Americans agree with his decision to invade Iraq, and that as a result, there's no need to hold any administration officials accountable for mistakes made in planning for the war, or its aftermath.

"We had an accountability moment, and that's called the 2004 elections," Mr. Bush said in an interview with The Washington Post for Sunday's editions.

Asked why bin Laden has not been captured yet, the president responded, "Because he's hiding."

I've read this article on several different bb's, and it frustrates me that the President thinks he's above being held accountable for....anything.

Regarding the "he's hiding" comment, I read that to be a tongue-in-cheek response to a sorta silly question.

Yeah. It's laughable. Hell, even Algore would have had Osama by now. Now there's this Williams character who is supposedly an "advocate" not a journalist, so it's ok to pay him for talking up the Prez? I'm sorry, but if the average reader would reasonably believe that a writer is writing a column purporting to be a relatively unbiased commentator, then that person is a *journalist*, not an advocate, and for the gov't to pay him for espousing a view is a fraud on the reader, and if not illegal, certainly should be. Our country is going to hell in a handbasket.

Ask a dumb question, get a dumb answer.

You honestly think that a guy that could pull off hijacking four aircrafts and ramming them into important buildings couldn't pull off hiding from us? Heck, he probably cut his hair and shaved his beard and is living in Detroit right now. When you annoy someone so badly, you should be prepared to fight them, or spend the rest of your life out of sight.

The biggest problem I have with the negative comments is that they only blame the President, which is ridiculous. Joseph Mengele stayed hidden for 35 years. Does this mean that every American and foreign leader between 44 and 1989 was incompetant? Of course not.

The British and Israelis are looking for him also, should we blame Blair and Sharon also?
>I've read this article on several different bb's, and it frustrates me that the President thinks he's above being held accountable for....anything.

And it frustrates me that there are people who think that the President should be held accountable for not finding one single person who had 25 years to plan his dissapearance. Do you think that the President should be held accountable for the FBIs inability to find Robert William Fisher or Donald Eugene Webb? They are on the FBI's most wanted too.

Which is the stupider question asked of the president?

Why hasn't bin Laden been captured yet?

Why haven't we proven the existence of aliens yet?

Both have actually been asked of presidents (second was asked, I believe, of Reagan; I can't remember his response).

The obvious answer for both is that they probably don't want to be found.

Since there are quite a few people who take great issue with the fact that bin Laden is still on the run, I suggest you travel to Washington and point out on a map exactly where the man's holed up.

Perhaps you'd even volunteer to lead the mission to capture him?

No one ever claimed that bin Laden would be found, tried, and executed by now, yet somehow a lot of people seem to have expected it. It's all part of the trend of "instant gratification" that we seem to be in.

In the days after 9-11, does anyone remember the moods of many people turning uglier and uglier because the United States wasn't "doing something" in retaliation?

I'm sure there are some of those messages still here in the archives.

I believe

Every president must show a great deal of humor in answering questions from the press. I believe this is the best way to keep them in line so to speak.. :D

I feel that the idea that we should have been able to find bin Laden is silly.

There was an anti-abortion individual in this country (North Carolina?) who shot and killed an abortion clinic doctor. He fled to the hills in territory that WE own and probably have thoroughly mapped out and eluded capture for a couple of years. He was finally caught dumpster diving for food.

To think that it would be easier to find binny boy in a foreign country with heavily armed friends is not realistic.

'not realistic'??? Did you see who mockingly posted this non story. Bush haters grasping at straws.
Bush could walk on water and Bountyh would crow that the man can't swim. Whatta waste of our time.

And another thought: there is a $25m (IIRC) bounty on him. All the bounty hunters on the planet must be incompetent as well. Maybe someone (since he should be easy to find  ) should not step up and point him out on a map, but drag him into Washington to pick up their check.

I voted for him twice and :barf: :barf: both times and I will not vote for Jeb when they run him and they will. I'll vote for Hillary,Kerry , any one but another Bush,

Seems like a straight foreward answer to me.

Clinton would have made up some fictional charcter that approached him on the street telling him what a wonderful job he was doing,,,quivered his lip while saying he felt someone's pain about something,,,checked out the news-blond in the front row trying to look up her skirt or down her blouse,,, gone on and on for 15 min and never answered the question....

AND

gotten rave reviews from the media. :barf:

I've been wondering why we haven't found Bin Laden as well. I agree with the President. He must be hiding.

Some people hunt deer with their trusty 12 gauge.

If the same question were asked of President Kerry his answer would start:

"You know, when I was in Viet Nam, I won medals there you know, we were looking for someone once and...."
