Ed, you're right about the safegy issue. What I meant was that they are using it for cover, and very effectively. As for the NRA, before they spend money on image they need to do something about substance. Kick the compromisers out of leadership - the ones that endorse anti politcal candidates and seem to think that the 2A is about hunting.



Mike, youi're going to have to tell us how a collie named herself Ruger. With that name, it's obviously gun related, so you should get no flack for being off topic! :D

Oak: I've been thinking a little about your question regarding Remington. I know that Kimber has also been mentioned on some threads in this regard. From what I read, they buy parts from S&W and are therefore helping to sustain S&W ? I guess that may be true; as far as I know, they didn't sign any agreements with the Clintons. I guess that's a pretty arbitrary line to draw, but I haven't been boycotting other firms (or even TFLers :) ) who are buying from S&W.

I guess what I'm saying is that all the S&W arguments are consuming too much time and energy (of what I allot to this site) to give much thought about it, but I don't doubt that it deserves to be discussed, but by people here smarter and more knowledgable than myself about the industry. Maybe the answer is that it needs to be talked about, but only after we reach a larger consensus on the S&W boycott. Remington and Kimber are maybe slightly evil cousins of S&W once removed. :confused:
 
I am not trying to defend Shultze but I read that he signed this pact with the devil because he would rather be put out of bussiness by his customers than his opposition,that it was his decision and nobody elses at smith and wessons,to sign this agreement,and that now the new C.E.O at smith and wesson is bound by a court order to abide by the cursed agreement,the new C.E.O is a lawyer and a member of the bar,so maybe there is hope, but if it was Shultz decision alone then why hold the whole company accountable now that Shultz is gone maybe we should lick our wounds and cut our losses ,and support the new C.E.O and give him the bennifit of the doubt ,IM not going to run out and buy a new smith I am just throwing in my thoughts
 
one more thing do not buy any murrey lawn tractors or snowblowers because they are owned by thompkins LLC also which Shultz is still CEO of
 
I've heard this before, that Schultz signed because he's actually pro-gun and wanted to suicide the company, and that this was all his doing, with no input by Tompkins.

To that I say BULLS*** and BULLS***.

I'm not certain where that originated, but it smells like something that came out of the fantasy flights of American Handgunner magazine (recently named S&W Bitch AND Punk of the year) and its editor.
 
I dropped the ball on getting to field reps and getting their names today. I'll try to spend some time tomorrow doing that.

As for Redneck, lucky man to find a woman with such discerning tastes. I think I'd start leaving notes to myself around the house with Wilson Combat and Les Baer contact info -- maybe throw some Kreigoff info there too.
 
Saf-T-Hammer was unsuccessfully tryin to make a buck off of the hysteria generated by the Brady Bunch. Ie, tryin to market gun locks, trigger locks etc. They had no assets, no recievables, no cash on hand, nearly no stock value etc when they cut the deal with Thompson for what was left of Smith n Wesson. They got an angel to put up the bucks so they could buy SnW on spec at a deep discount. One loser company buys another loser company. Somebody stands to profit by the deal but it is not clear who that is yet.

SnW was losing money heavily in spite of their job shop contracts to furnish manufactured goods to other manufacturers. Seems that they still are.

Aside from the contracts in which they could have forced ALL gun manufacturers, distributors and dealers to abide by the onerous conditions of the agreements: There is the matter of their product quality. I have looked at quite a few of their recent offerings and discounting Performance Center products....all have had fit, finish and function problems that made the old Bangor Punta guns look, feel and shoot like custom jewells in comparison.

Therefore I think I have two good reasons to not buy new SnW products.

One.....the agreements....which new management has publicly stated they will honor.

Two.....Sadly, it seems that one would get more gun for their buck with a Taurus, Charter Arms, Ruger or whatever.

If you can't read and understand the agreements, which have the force of law, don't trash those who chose to fight for their rights as gunowners by boycotting SnW.

we have all read the agreements ,thats not the point ,the point is were they bullied into signing by clinton and his thugs,also do you not think H.C.I would be ecstatic at the thought of smith going under,one major domestic manufacturer gone two more to go,once smith is out of the picture they will start picking on the next largest manufacturer probibly Ruger,then we will see how well Ruger stands up to all the bull **** lawsuits,,its a game of attrition to those treehuggers,and its a fact that smith is bound by a court order to abide by this agreement ,it may take a while for them to find a loophole to get out of it,in any case the damage is done and them going under will just make matters worse,do you think taurus would stand up for your rights if facing the same legal pressures as smith ,no way! I think it was a no win situation for smith,and were are focusing our anger on the wrong thing,
 
as far as my old lady buying me guns she has a CCW and she knows what I like I wrote it down and she ordered it, shes a hell of a women.She is a hell of a shot with her PPK which is the only centerfire semiauto I own ,Im a revolver man thats why I take this smith and wesson thing so hard,that is also why I need nothing from wilson or les baer
