Would You Trust Your Life With a .380?

Yes. I have one in my pocket now. I more commonly carry a 9 mm IWB, but when it doesn't work I carry a pocket .380. My tactics may be altered, but I feel like it gives me a fighting chance, and that is all we can really ask of a pistol.

Yes - if I knew I could shoot the particular pistol with accuracy at SD ranges . . . if I was person who was too lazy to practice on a regular basis (which I'm not) . . . I wouldn't trust it or any other caliber . . .

I carry a 22 often (SR22) when fishing, and frequently carry an LCP.

Am I scared when I'm carrying one of those instead of my p220? No.

I carry a .380 and for years carried a .32. IMHO, a concealed gun of any caliber is a game changer. The sudden appearance is a "shock" to an unsuspecting assailant and the "awe" provided by the act of being shot at.

Yes

Yes I would. My GF carries a .380, she's a good shot and I pity the fool who ever makes her justified in using it.

Yes. I don't carry a .380, I carry the 9x18mm. It is very similar overall to a .380 but just a bit more potent. If it were a .380 I would still carry it:

While I have other more potent handguns that I like and shoot very well, I have a 380 next to me for HD right now.
Two years ago, I bought an Israeli surplus Beretta 84F, a 14 shot 380. I bought it on a whim, as I had wanted one when I was young, and the price was right.
At the range, I quickly found I liked the little pistol a lot. It is very accurate, shooting nice, centered groups at 25yds. Reliability has been perfect, and it points very well for me. Great trigger, both DA and SA, and longer barrel gets the most out of the 380.
I have it loaded with Underwood XTPs, but I'd be just as happy with a good FMJ load.
It carries easily in a couple holsters I've picked up, and I feel pretty well armed with it.

I felt like I could for the longest time. Carried my S&W Bodyguard .380 with me everywhere I went. After enough hearing and reading about how underpowered .380 is I eventually sold it and bought a Springfield XDS9 and don't regret it. I simply lost confidence in the .380 after doing research. That doesn't mean it's not suitable for self defense. I personally just don't trust it compared to a 9mm that can be carried just as easily. As usual, YMMV.

I used to think it was too underpowered, but the more I educated myself, the better it looked. Now I have no problem carrying my LCP. When I can I do carry a 9mm but if I need a compact, 380 is no problem.
