Would you ever buy a firearm from a pawn shop?

I've bought several firearms from pawn shops, first off is you may have to pay close to the asking price to get your foot in the door with the pawn shop. Next never buy from a chain of pawn shops deal with the small ones. The chain shops will rotate stock around between them and they don't really ever come down on their prices, or you will not be able to find anyone there that has the authority to negotiate on a regular basis.

Some of my pawn shop finds have been:

Pre-1964 M70 custom rifle in .280, Brown Precision stock with Vari-XIII 2.5-8X36 scope for $625
JC Higgins M50 .30-06 Belgium made FN Mauser with 2-7 Denver Redfield $325
1896 Springfield Krag sporter $250
M94 AE Winchester $175
Enfield .303 Mk4 sporter $100
Stevens 200 .223 with Burris FFII 2-7X35 scope $300

So, you're saying the pawn shops price the ones in good condition lower than the ones that are beaters?

Because I've never seen a pawn shop gun that was:

a) in good condition

-and-

b) less than 90% the price of a new one

Maybe the pawn shops in your area sell decent guns at a reasonable price, then send the junky overpriced cast-offs to Texas.

Look at the posts of the thread. There certainly are folks making some good deals at pawn shops.

Yeap, In fact all of my 8 guns have come from a pawnshop... But my grandfather owns it and inspects every gun for any wear/problems before buying.. All of mine have always shot great! So yeah.. After some inspection I would buy a rifle from a pawn shop...
