Would you be a minute man?

Scary, isn't it? all this "screaming" over humans that don't look like you? So sad to be someone like you.

Can't you accept the fact that it's about illegal immigration, not race. The arguments would be the same if Canadians were flooding across the border illegally. I'm sure for some it's a race issue, but his points have had nothing to do with race. Actually you're the only one I see bringing race into a legal vs. illegal argument. It's illegal no matter what the skin color.

Funny thing is that I did not bring up race

Sure you did. You specifically emphasized anglos.

I find it to be the height of bad taste and decorum to have anglo commando wannabees trying to change the direction that America has always been on...a land of immigrants.

Do you dislike all anglos, or just those anglos who don't agree with your opinions?

I bring up Anglos (which I am) because, as stated earlier, show me a humongous rally of Hispanics, Asians, and Afro-Americans protesting undocumented human beings, and I will eat my hat, and so far, ALL have failed to address that...instead, ...

Would you be a minute man?

Yes.
Of course we could wait until the economy collapses from it's own weight, then there will be no reason for illegals to come here. Maybe Americans can "migrate" south.

I have to disagree completely with this statement.

I will give you that alot of people that get involved do so because of their own prejudices, but the main reason massive immigration needs to be stopped is economic and not racist.

Massive amounts of minimum wage labor pouring into the country causes not only a suppresion of living wage but also a great deal of damage to the entire economy. It is a ripple effect. People earn less so they spend less. Retailers and manufacturers have to look for cheaper places to produce their good since less americans can afford to pay for them, then people lose higher paying jobs when manufacturing moves out of country, then those people are forced to settle for low paying jobs, unemployment rises, noone has health care, and so on.

The only benefit is to big business that is in for the short term profit. It used to be people tried to run a company so that it would prosper for generations. Now CEOs want to run a business up as high as possible, cash out, then let the company collapse (usually at the cost of the workers). They have moved to the short term gains metality.

dint the stock market reach a new high of 1300, I think it was monday. it does not seem to me that the economy is suffering.

Acually, inflated values in the stock market directly support what I just said. Big business is profitig greatly at this time from the cheap labor. But it is like a buckey that is catching a leak in your roof. For a very long time it seems to be doing great. That is right up until the bucket is full. From that second on it is as if the bucket is not even there since every drop overflows the edge.

And like a professor I had in school used to say in our economics course (I am paraphrasing since it was many years ago)..."If you want to see how well the upper classes are doing read the Wall Street Journal. If you want to see how the middle and lower classes are doing pay attention to the word on the street."

Go ask your wife or significant other whether you are a 'minute man'. Then put this to rest.
Classy...if you do not want to participate then don't. Neither your presense nor your insightful comments:rolleyes: will be missed.

ahh well I was under the impresion that we were debating what is best for those people in the upper classes, or at least those with the means of production.

Glenn, I don't think this is the place to disclose your "personal problems".

Would I become one? Most likely not in it's current form.

Some all civilian volunteer organizations can work well. The Civil Air Patrol is a good example. My concern with a group of ARMED volunteers is that you would have to have very tight oversight indeed in order to ensure control and weed out commandos. If the organization were say, state sanctioned or controlled with good accountable oversight I might consider it. Right now it seems like more of a lose cannon to me.

To address some of the off topic issues this thread has brought up, I'd say this:

One simple thing the US government could do to reduce illegal immigration would be to eliminate the automatic citizenship for babies born in the US to non-citizen parents. There is no justification I can see for this nowdays, if there ever was a sensible reason.

I am reasonably sure that this was initially decided because many, many people who were around when the country was founded were NOT born here. As for it being out dated today? I think it's hard pressed to say that a kid born and raised here doesn't basically end up growing up "American". We are a culture. We change people.

As to how do you yell in a forum using text? Like this:

THIS IS CONSIDERED YELLING IN TEXT.

So is this.

Any time you make a long string of text and emphasize it with all CAPS usually but bold works to. You are trying to make your text "louder" than all the other around it. For all practical purposes, it's the same as yelling. Sometimes it is appropriate but it gets old when people post that way all the time.

OK, I am going to be honest. I am 66 years old and I am a 15 second man...hey wait until you get there before you make fun of me.

But on the border I can be a full fledged minute man.

Yes I Will

Hell yeah, In a Flash. This Illegal surge is horrible. The only people that benefit are the employers that hire them. I don't care what your skin color is, the minute you stop taking food and shelter from me(by not paying taxes, abusing the health care, welfare system) as a taxpayer, is where I draw the line.

If a show of force, either potential or active, is what it takes, then call me to the line.

These illegals take from all of us who are paying taxes. You can say there are plenty of Americans that do the same, but most pay some sort of INCOME tax.

If it makes you feel good about yourself to say let them come thats what America is about, then put yourself in MY shoes. We had a tough financial year ( two kids under 3, lost a baby, down work time) We applied for financial assistance, we were declined. The reason behind it was our couny had already paid out too much,in essence the benefits were being "rationed" They found that I had "made" to much prior to filing. After many phone calls we were able to find that a major amount of money had been paid out to the ILLEGALS families (who come here and give birth so they can be "naturalized" and collect the abundance of "free" benefits)(help is wasted on the needy).

We as US citizens, don't have the option to make $8-20/hr taxfree, then go home to live like kings. The sad truth is guys, the enemy is at the gates, what we do from here on out will set the stage for future generations. This is a government for the people, by the people and it is ime that we start to govern.

I'm getting of my soapbox now.

I'd join!

What kills me is the migrant workers that come up here every year to work, they make about $12-$15 an hour and work 50 to 60 hours a week sometimes more. Their families come with them and get free welfare and free education. I can't even begain to tell you how hard it is for most Americans around here to find a job that pay's that well and making less, don't get welfare and still have to pay taxes and not to mention the cost of books and the other things american kids need for the school year, that the migrant kids get for free. As a tax payer, on my property taxes they take out a chunk to help pay for the migrant school program and other programs. They are making as much as they do, they should have to pay for all the same stuff we do and not get a free ride with school and health care.

Also, what about these people that come over here and open a business and get huge tax breaks, like 7 years no taxes and then to keep that going, they sell to their brother and keep it in the family. Why the hell can't we Americans get a break like that? Why not give first time home owners a 7 year tax break? What about giving first time small business owners a break. No, if I come from some third world country, I have it made. Tell me how screwed up that is!

You want to stop them from coming over here, start treating them like a real American and make them pay for everything.

Price we pay for freedom Coloma...nobody said it was gonna' be easy. $12 to $15 you say? Is that all? I must be blessed...A man who would work for $12 to $15 for the work an undocumented human does deserves to be here...that is the true spirit of America...work hard and reap the benefits of that hard work. Geeze...I made $15.00 an hour in the early seventies...I don't know how they do it...God Bless these souls.
