Will you just hand over all your firearms if police ask for it?

Another post got me thinking...will you just give away your guns if cops or national guards knock on your door and ask for them in case of a disaster?

jrfoxx has the right idea. i'm not one of these tehy can have my guns bullets first guys. i'm a they can't confiscate my guns if they can't find them kinda guy.

why are they asking, if they need to borrow one because they left theirs in the car wich is 200ft under water or at the station maybe but i would get a lot of info and a recipt from them. if they are just confiscating them gosh i lost those years ago. that you loot i shoot sign is just to scare people away.

Well, I only have this one old piece here. Bought it 'cause I thought it looked neat. *hands over the $100 cheap pistol* Yessir, that's all I have, never did like guns much

Hell yes! Of course the nice officers can take my Uberti '58 Remington cap and ball revolver, though I unfortunately sold the rest of my firearms years before they got there.

"Sorry fellas, I melted down all my firearms to make a huge frying pan to knock you over the head with!" *Busts out huge frying pan*:D

Seriously, only way I'd hand over any of my firearms is from my cold dead hands. It's my constitutional right to keep and bear arms, and no army or national guard is going to take that right away from me.

+1 million

My right to bear arms and freedom is more important than my well being.

I'm also part of the camp that wouldn't dream of handing them over, but gosh - it sure is easy for us to sit in our cozy chairs and be defiant. I suspect that if a group of highly trained, armed men were outside most forum member's doors demanding weapons and implying that the home would be searched, the average TFL Joe Blow would only need one look at his family inside the home to hand over most if not all guns without incident.

It would definitely be a scary situation. I suspect if I lived alone I would stand by my convictions, but if I lived with wife and children, I'm not sure I would be prepared to wage a gun battle on my doorstep. Definitely food for thought.

If they dont like my "I dont have any guns" story, then sure they can have my guns and even my ammo, but ammo first.

no officer I hate guns. Or well i had a few but I lost them in the (name of natural disaster) along with many other possessions. But I guess ill never know what I do until it realy happens.

Okay I found the bill.

From just a knock on the door and a request.....no.
With proper documentation and court warrants for them....I would. But they would be all properly documented, signed for, videotaped, and the entire process supervised by my attorney, after a call to the State Attorney General's office.
