Why not the .22Mag

Dal I may be wrong but some gun made before 1968 didnt have to have a serial number on it. I have taken my Chuckster apart and cant find numbers on it anywhere. Thats why I ask if anyone knew when the gun was produced. I also have a J C Higgins .22 Dad bought from Sears sometime in the 50's that doesnt have any on it. The gun was made by High Standard for Sears. Guess they just have to be old.

Well I must vehemently disagree with kevin. To place the Ruger in front of the Marlin, is an understandable occurence, probably due to familiarity, or preference. But the Remington?????

Kevin, do you feel OK? That plastic monstrosity with the tiny fragile "action rods"? Bolt handles that routinely fall off, and trigger groups that few if nobody can fix?

I would call it a dead heat between the Marlin and the Ruger, with the 597M falling apart far far far behind! IMHO!

I thought I'd seen it all, until a 22WMR spun a bunny 2 1/4 times in the air!

Gopher and Willy,
For the Mossberg 640KD Chuckster 22mag, have you found a source for extra magazines? I just acquired this rifle and am very pleased with its iron sight accuracy at 100 yards. The 24" barrel no doubt helps in this respect. But the wind sure does blow 40 grain bullets around. I got the best groups when I waited for the wind to die down. I'll try the Federal 50 grain HPs next.

In my state, if you are hunting anything but a varmint, you can use any round as long as it is a centerfire cartridge. That kinda kills .22WMR. It would still be fun for the varmints though. :-)
