Why Mouse Guns

Methinks a troll is living in this thread!

Seriously, are you really trying to start the whole "everyone needs to carry a .45" thing up again? Get real, most of us don't live on the Western Front.

I carry a .32 or a .380 most of the time.

WHY? because I can shoot

I get a kick out of these INTERNET ninies who talk bout center of mass at seven yards. Try two shots on a playing card at five yards in two seconds from concealment.

Most everyone seems to ignore the speed factor when considering CCW.If you fire the second or third hit in a gunfight, your caliber probably isn't going to mater much.

There , I got that off my chest. I'll go back to sleep now,,thanks for the rant space...........................goldy

There are many times when you can't carry even a snub revolver.

For those times,a very small semi auto that is very flat and small can be there to help you save your life and those around you that you love as well.

Mouse guns make absolute sense when hot weather rolls around. I simply cannot carry my Ruger P85, Dan Wesson .357, or Bersa T380 in a concealed location when it's above 85 degF unless I want to sweat in a long tail shirt or vest.

And I want to wear shorts and short sleeves when it's hot. A small .22, .25 or .32 is perfect when no defense at all is the alternative.

Shot placement in SD outweighs caliber all day long (now see what I've stirred up!). A BG winged with .45 is far more dangerous than one with a .22 in the head or COM, period.

are they better than you.
No. In spite of what some wish, your choice of weapon or caliber does not make you better or worse than anybody else. It makes you different than the other person. Whether that differnce matters in the overall scheme of life is doubtful.

Got rid of my PT-25; now summer carry is a Kahr PM9 in a pocket holster ... don't consider 9mm mousy, but the size of gun is certainly in the rodent area ...

One could argue that guys who carry smaller guns are more secure. It would make just as much sense as the idea put forth in the OP. :)

Since I acquired a PM9 my other carry guns have taken a back seat. Even our own illustrious PBP is beginning to see the virtues and quality of the Kahr. In fact most people who actually get one instead of reading about them on the net do.:)

The .22 Mag mini revolver also makes a nice BUG for it or carried on its own. I've seen the posts of the less informed among us who doubt the killing power of small pistols, but I don't. The main consideration with small pistols is that you need more practice and greater skill to be proficient with them. The .22 LR, .22 Mag, .25 ACP, .32 ACP and .380 all have enough penetration to reach the heart, spine and brain, all you have to do is put them where they need to go for them to be effective.

You need to be more specific. I was already a fan of the all steel Kahr pistols. I am just now coming to appreciate the polymer ones. After discovering the inexpensive CW9 and falling in love with it, I picked up my PM9 the other day. I hope to get to the range this afternoon or tomorrow with it. :)

I was guilty of allowing a few told, retold, and then retold again stories of issues with early models (probably primarily from people who have never even handled one) keep me away from what turns out to be a fantastic gun.

Why do you carry a mouse gun ? for cc .style.caliber. 22.25 .32. 380. a lot of people carry fullsize all day long.9mm .40 45.38.357.are they better than you.
Mouse gun? I don't even own one anymore. I used to, though. Pertaining to caliber, it is all just a matter of what your comfort level is. The lowest I'd choose to go is .380 ACP which I used to carry, although I was kinda iffy about carrying that caliber and got around to upgrading to a 9mm.

But as to others carrying full size all day long? I assume you mean carrying CONCEALED full sized all day long? Well, I can do it, and have done so in the past, but I don't CHOOSE to do it at this time. Why carry a full sized service handgun all day long when you can carry a smaller, lighter one instead? Why be a masochist?

Speaking of mouse gun, what makes a mouse gun? Is it the caliber? If so, then what about the full sized guns in those "traditional" mouse gun calibers? What about my 6" barrel .22? I wouldn't call that a mouse gun. Or is it the size of the package? I used to carry a Bersa Thunder .380, which is about the same size as a Walther PPK/s. That's a mouse gun, right? Well, then is the smaller and lighter KelTec PF-9 that I currently carry also a mouse gun?

What say ye? What makes a mouse gun a mouse gun?

Quite right my error.:o I of course meant the polymers and your recent purchase and testing of the CW9, which led you purchase of the PM9. I didn't forget about your MK40, even if I did neglect to mention it.:)

At mouse guns.com they say anything lighter than 16 oz. or a little heaver is considered a mouse .but all i asked in my op .are they better than you .meaning they can cc better than most people.myself included.

Short answer: because they're so easy to carry w/o worrying about concealment/printing and all that rot.

At mouse guns.com they say anything lighter than 16 oz. or a little heaver is considered a mouse .
So, by their criterion my 9mm KT PF-9 which weighs in at about 16oz (w/magazine) is a mousegun, where my .22lr S&W 422 which weighs in at about 22oz empty is not. Sounds like they'd consider one of those ultra lightweight .38 snubs a mousegun as well. Or, that they'd consider what many would consider mouseguns -- guns in the PPK/s class -- to be not mouseguns because they are too heavy.

.but all i asked in my op .are they better than you .meaning they can cc better than most people.myself included.
But, I AM one of those people. Being better has nothing to do with it. I can, and have, CC'd full size guns in jeans & a t-shirt. I can do it if I choose to. I just don't choose to any more. There's just no reason for me to. Why should I CC a full size gun when I can get similar firepower in an easier to carry, easier to conceal package?

I really don't see where I'd need any more than the 7+1 rounds in the gun that I regularly carry, especially when those rounds are of a type that one usually associates with being duty class strength, especially since I also carry a spare mag for it.

Big, bulky and challenging to conceal, or small, flat and practically disappears? Both chamber the same round. Hmm, which to carry? One pokes me in the kidney, the other one I practically forget I'm carrying? Hmm, which do I carry today?

I am one of the many people in the world who cannot carry a gun iwb .or owb.i must pocket carry . a seecamp.it works for me.

I can carry anything I want, and it doesn 't have to be concealed. I travel through and work in one of the most dangerous areas in the US (Memphis, TN), and I carry a .32 acp in my pocket. I don't feel the least bit undergunned, because I can SHOOT it, and I WILL shoot it. I keep a 9mm or two in the car for the occasional riot situation, but for everyday carry the .32 is fine. I am literally in the car on my way back from the beach in Florida right now. The little Keltec served me well in the surf and sand.
