Why don't I want a Mosin Nagant?

I've never wanted one either.

Then I saw one with a new synthetic Monte Carlo stock on it and I was far more interested. It looked lovely!

That's it so far-I was far more interested, but still not enough to buy one.

I had no interest until I tried one. Then it hurt like a kicking mule! My shoulder was purple and black after 40 rounds.

That was the challenge. No ruskie rifle was going to dominate this man! ;)

Seriously though, the first one I had [m38 with counterbored barrel due to wartime use] was fun but, well, meh.

Then I found a Polish M44 that looked as if it were made in 1953 and instantly packed into cosmoline. That one feels NICE!

I like the power factor of the ammo, and I am not shooting for meat, but for fun [at paper/metal]. I can shoot it twice as much as any other centerfire I have [other than 5.56] for 1/2 the price.

And I teach history, so that is fun.

Then I was given a 91/30 and that is also fun.

I am learning to adapt to them.

Yes, they are an acquired taste, and not everyone needs to acquire them. Like an AK, they just seem to work, despite being ugly and rough.

I've now acquired that taste. But 2 is enough. Unless I find a pristine 91/30 for the right price. hmmm.

I'm not going to read all 99 posts, but to answer your question... You DO want one.
Hi power, cheap, cheap to shoot, history... What's not to want??
