Sig?

IMI?

H&K?

Glock?

Who in your opinion, listed here or not, makes the best overall line of automatics. Reliability, efficiency, rate of fire, muzzle velocity, accuracy, etc.

I'm gonna say Glock. They have the highest capacity of most modern autos and have very good accuracy. Durability and reliability are also very high with these guns. Glocks are very good overall and I really like 'em.

That said, I'd prefer HK. ;)

I'd have to say H&K or Sig but for the average person you just can NOT go wrong with a Glock. Parts and accessories available everywhere, and they are proven to be rugged and reliable.

I own 2 HK USP's and love them but sometimes it's a pain to find parts, mags, etc....

I believe that Glocks are the best, but any of the top brands are good weapons. I have owned Sigs- excellent, Beretta -excellent and my favorites Glocks.

He tears open the envelope and the answer is Sig P210, Walther P88, Browning High Power, and Glock in that order. For the average guy with an average wallet you can not go wrong with a Glock. Regards, Richard.

Who made the best auto pistols?
That's easy!
John Browning.

Without a doubt, the best overall line of autos are made by Ruger.
Really.

In my opinion, the best "bang for the buck" has got to be Ruger.

Although I don't like them I would have to say HK. Like Glocks, Sigs, Beretta, but in overall product offering I think that HK and Ruger would be the winners. That hurt. I don't even own any auto pistols from either one of the two. S&W would also be a contender.

Well, HK makes great pistols. So does Walther. But with pistols in their line such as the 210, 220, 225, etc., I have to say Sig.

I have owned various Astra, AMT, Beretta, Browning, Colt, Glock, H&K, Kahr, Kel-Tec, Ruger, SigArms, S&W, Taurus, and Walther pistols.

I must say that Glocks, for me, are far and away the best pistol available in today's market.

My Glock 34 is The Best Pistol Ever Built! :D

This question is like asking what's better a Toyota, Chevy or Ford truck? We each have our favorite. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the modern reputable manufacturers. I like Glocks most and SIG Sauers second. It used to be the other way around, but now I appreciate Glocks more.

These days quite a few manufacturers make pistols that are very, very good. The highest quality, least likely to get a lemon, out of the box, probably Sig. Best accuracy, probably Sig. Reliability? Beretta or Glock. Durability? Glock or H&K. Best overall for the money? Probably Ruger.

IMHO, best comes down to which operating system a person prefers. Then take into account accuracy, capacity, feel, etc. Safe Action Glock, Double Action Beretta, Ruger, Sig, S&W, H&K. Sig with decocker or Beretta with slide safety. H&K P7. Good arguements can be made for all of these and others. Best? There's probably no one answer. Good thing there's many answers available.

Just my $.02,

Historically, John M. Browning without a doubt. Many of today's semi-autos incorporate aspects of his original design.

Gaston Glock was still in diapers when JMB was designing the premier fighting pistol of the past 100 years. :D And H&K was doing it's part for the Third Reich while his (JMB) designs were outlasting and outclasing theirs. :D

In today's modern world, for out of the box accuracy and reliability I would say SIG then Glock and H&K tied for second place. As far as value for the buck it would be Ruger. And the overall basement bargain of the century would be Llama! :p

Bet you didn't think you'd get so many opinions did you. ;)

The best weapon for self defense is the one you have when the need arises!

Short answer "YES" long answer, un-answerable. Best can refer to a lot of things that make a lot of guns very very good. John Browning is the father of the auto-pistol. Many people say he also perfected it. Gaston Glock made an incredible gun, and revolutionized how we make guns today. William Ruger designed some of the best guns ever. H&K makes great guns. These are all the best. Sig makes ideal auto pistols for today.

I like SIGs and Berettas best for shooting pleasure/feel/handling. Best for reliability/accuracy out of the box. More than enough durability for anybody if ya take care of them. Good product line, customer service. CZ is right up there too, and way tougher.

Glock and Ruger are the toughest. Would give the reliability/accuracy edge to the Rugers. Less likely to kB in 40/45 too.

HK USPs are excellent all around too. Lousy customer service though.

Walther's P99 is very good. So is S&Ws SW99 but I won't go there.

The old warhorses 1911/BHP are still very good too. Get em from a good company.

Gotta say I see the least "lemons", problem guns out of the box from SIG/Beretta. The G19/23 seem to be the most problematic of their bunch. Contrary to the conventional wisdom, I have seen way too many that did not work as they should, needed several trips to Smyrna to get right. Service w a smile though. YMMV.

for me so far, in automatics, a model 92, whether it be beretta or tarus.
dad had a beretta and i liked it, but i am a better shot with my tarus.
but really the best gun period is the one that does what i need it to when i need it to.

After doing my homework, I have found that HK is the best... for me. Not everyone. Ruger is probably the best for those on a budget.

I looked at firearms such as the PSG1 sniper rifle, G36, SOCOM, USP Tactical, MP5k-pdw, M3-Tactical shotgun, P7M13, USP 40 compact and UMP and know that my USP 45f has an outstanding lineage.

Glocks and Sigs are right up there also and my first love will ALWAYS be the single stack 1911, but make mine HK.

my choices are based caliber and intended use
45 Kimber
9mm Beretta
10mm Colt Delta Elite
22 LR Ruger
40 Beretta
