who loves the .44 mag?

I do.

44 magnum

It is not my most favorite handgun caliber for target shooting but is currently my most powerful one that I have an old 629 chambered for ! To me the 44 magnum is all business and I only shoot full power hunting loads in it....I have other handguns better suited for long sessions of target shooting and plinking ! Okay , I admit....it is a blast to shoot the big boomer ! :)

I likes it!

I let my friend shoot my 44 with some good, stout loads in it. First shot he paused, smiled and lined up for another shot. It was pretty funny.

thats a beautiful S&W.

I have a Marlin 336 and a Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter both in .44 Mag. The Marlin was my first deer rifle, and i plan on using the Blackhawk this season. .44 mag is definately a lot more fun when you can reload them.

who loves the .44 mag?

Me.

My favorite is the factory Remmington 180g, extra load (.357s rems too.) with a big flash bulb like flash. The flash ads drama.

I live in Vegas, I love when these foreigners (none free) comes to Vegas (U.S.A.) to shoot (at my range) some full auto .223 or maybe once in a while a .45 Tommy:p.
After they spend a $100 in one second, I get my Ruger Redhawk out. One shot is all it takes. $00.70 in one second, they're like "what the heck was that?" I just smile and invite them to shoot one shot. Funny, they usually decline.:D

I don't like it.
Every time I shoot one I wish it was a .41 magnum.
If you handload, which I don't, you might as well have a .44 special instead of a .44 magnum.

Remington screwed it up. Instead of making it 1200 fps as Elmer Keith suggested they made it do 1500 which takes all the fun out of it.

Having said that I have 2 and one on the way. Why? Because I like the guns: a Colt Anaconda 4", a Ruger old model Super Blackhawk, and a Virginian Dragoon on the way with a 10.5" barrel that will hopefully tame the recoil down to a fun level.

Thing is, from what I've heard, most factory is watered down to 1200fps (the hot Keith .44spec load) anyway. I've never bought factory so I wouldn't know.

One of my favorite rounds, the 44 Mag. Six different moulds from 180 to 300 grains plus shot loads and frankenloads...what not to like. :)

.44 Magnum

One of my favorites for white tail and hog hunting. I really like 300gr XTPs and am working on a load using the 265gr JSPs developed for 444 Marlin. So far not as accurate as the XTPs but I am working on it.

I have two, both Ruger Super Blackhawks:

Well, okay, I likes it a little bit. Can you say deer gun? It's a working gun and has been drug through a lot of woods and has a lot of time on the range.

add me to the list. i have a 7 1/2" redhawk and a 4" taurus 44 and a winchester 94 in 44 mag.
i think many who went with the 454's,460's, 480's and 500's ended up coming back to the good ol' 44 mag :)

Me, me, me!!

It started out as an opportunistic purchase, then turned into a disappointment, but then with TFL pointers on how to handle bigger recoil, it has become a firm favourite.

It has also introduced me to reloading that is now feeding about 40% of my collection!!

Not bad for a factually inaccurate diameter reading!!

This could not be more true. I love the .44 Mag. I have a Redhawk in a four inch. Great and portable hand cannon.

I wanted more. I bought an X-frame .460 S&W mag with an 8 & 3/8 barrel. It's a great gun. But I shoot my .44 more. The .460 is great for its purpose but the .44 is more fun to shoot, cheaper, and more versatile.

I am going to my favorite LGS to order a new Super Bisley Blackhawk hunter in .44 mag. It's enough for deer n hogs.

I will keep the 460. It is jus too fun but I shoot the .44 about five times as much. The other day my father and I shot 600 .44 mags. It was a blast. Reloading is the only way I could afford it.

Sorry for the typos. I sent this from my iPhone.

i REALLY like mine. it is my favorite gun to shoot. and i intend on carrying it with a shoulder holster rig here pretty soon.
it's a large frame ruger vaquero (blackhawk variant) w/5 1/2" barrel.
bought it new in '95 for $335. they quit makin' these because it was too big for the hand and was uncomfortable.... bullcorn. vaqueros are smaller framed now and only chambered in .357/,38 and .45 lc. and have $700 price tag.

I like the .44 Mag a lot. It got me started in CF pistols 25 years ago, haven't been without one since. Makes for a fine medium size game rifle cartridge too.

I get a laugh when I read how bad of a SD cartridge the .44 Mag is. "Why it would sail right through them and do no damage, you'd shoot the BG 6 times and he'd still have enough time left to massacre you and your family with a dull knife." Those guys have never seen a 180 gr JHP pushed by a max charge of H110 / WW296 hit a milk jug. It's not a load with an indoor voice though.

uhm..... that guy is a zombie!!! gotta shoot 'em in the head! ;)

an HP won't sail right through, if it does, it's takin' a lot of flesh with it!
