Today my father and I were at the range and I let off a few cylinders of .44 magnum and everyone just looked at me funny, like I was over kill...Who else loves the .44 magnum?

Me!:) Maybe the question should be; "Who doesn't love the 44Mag?".
Then, there'll be few replies and a shorter thread than this is destined to be, imho.:)

I do!

It may not be the biggest and baddest anymore but it has taken everything from squirrels to elephant, can be housed in a packable sixgun and has been accurate in everything i've shot it in. Will always be one of my favorites!

haha indeed Tinner. I find the .44 mag to be very accurate myself. I can roll soda cans on the ground at 100yds all day. A gentle man came up to me today and said that I should consider getting something like a .45acp cause it was more accurate...I laughed an showed him my touching bullet holes at 35yds while his .45acp holes were everywhere at 15yds ;)

I like it, I don't shoot it much anymore though, kinda spendy. I need to get on the loading bench for it.

I loves me some 44 magnum. So much versatility on tap. I prefer loads in the upper mid range with the good ol' 240 SWC.

I need to get on the reloading bench myself. Laugh if you want but my favorite load so far is the 200gr Hornady xtp. seems to shoot a little flatter in my Super Redhawk.

Probably the most accurate revolver I have ever shot.

I love my girl friend, not some inanimate piece of steel. Of all those cold pieces of steel I like the .44 magnum best. This is probably because I reload it and can load from light .44 Special range up to big boomer .44 magnum range. My Desert Eagle likes the big boomer loads and my S&W 329PD likes the lighter loads.

44 mag

I traded into some 44 mag ammo where a guy needed some AR mags. Then took a few months but found a nice S&W 4". Still have not shot it but can say I have one.:)

I just finish testing a new Lyman 260gr Devastator HP with gas check cast bullets and my older 240 gr.RCBS Sil gas check bullets from my S&W Mod. 29 8 3/8" Barrel...

S&W Model 29 44 MAGNUM 8 3/8” BBL

260 gr Lyman Devastator HPGC 0.431"
16.2 grains Blue Dot
CCI 350 primer
COAL seated in cannelure 1.692"
Velocity 1370 fps 8 3/8” BBL
Energy 1083 ft/lb

245 gr RCBS Silhouette GC 0.430"
16.2 grains Blue Dot
CCI 350 primer
COAL seated in cannelure 1.654"
Velocity 1360 fps 8 3/8” BBL
Energy 1006 ft/lb

Very accurate loadings, velocity was consistant for both bullet types. All cases extracted easily with no sign of excess pressures and primers were looking good also.
The RCBS Silhouette cartridges have been loaded for 20+ years. :D

I love the 44, but I'm down to two, both S&W 29-2s. And I don't shoot full-charge ammo out of them.

My pet load is a 240 grain plated bullet ahead of 7.5 grains Unique. Makes for a really fun load to shoot.

Well, with a handle like I have on this forum, I have to chime in yes, the 44 Magnum is my favorite.
I got into casting just to feed my 44's more often. Now I shoot them every time I go to the range, and I go to the range a lot more. I load everything from puff ball loads to fireballs. Love the 250 grain Keith bullet in front of 8.5 grains of Unique for a great bread and butter load.

The 44 Magnum is accurate, it is powerful, and it gives me a flinch and hand trembles after shooting it.

So I shoot it last before heading home.
