Who is satisfied with the handgun(s) they own?

It seems like a never-ending battle for me to find the perfect handgun. But I think I am finally there with my new (to me) P229 SCT. Here's my list of guns I own or have owned.

Glock 17 (sold). Former duty.
Glock 26 (sold). Bought used and sold a year later, great gun, just too blocky for regular off duty carry
Kahr CW9 (sold). Nice single stack 9 to replace the G26. I was not near as acurate shooting it as I was the G26. Sold to fund my snubbie.
Ruger LCR (still have). My second most recent purchase. Always wanted a snubbie and pretty easy to conceal although not as comfy as the Kahr. It also serves as my back-up while on duty.
Sig P226 in .40/357 (sold). This gun I bought a few years ago as a new duty gun. Sold recently to fund my P229.
Sig P229 SCT in .40/357. (just bought, still have). Just need some standard 12 round mags now.
Ruger Speed Six in 38 special (still have) at home gun for my wife. She loves it much better than any semi she has tried to shoot.

This is my advice: listen to your gut. I got hung up on wanting full size gun. If I bought a G19 from the get go, I would probably still have it and not gotten bored with the G17 which caused me to buy the P226. I probably would have gotten a Sig anyway but should have bought the P229. Owning the snub from the beginning would have saved me from buying (and selling) both the G26 and Kahr.

I hate to think of the money lost on trades and depreciation as well as holsters, spare mags, and other accessories. Remember, all things being equal, get the gun you keep gravitating towards, do not settle.

Me, with every one of them! However many that is, I forgot!!!:D

I like every handgun I've ever bought, they all have their own purpose. The only thing I regret was selling six cap and ball revolvers to buy my 1917 DWM 9mm. Luger.
My 1862 Colt is getting lonely, so I guess I'll have to buy some more to keep it company.

I'm pretty satisfied with my current guns. I'd like a large caliber revolver but I just haven't found the right gun yet.

I'm not satisfied with the handguns I own...I still desire more of them! :D Individually though, I am very satisfied. Each of them is fun to shoot and brings something a little different to the table. No plans to sell or trade any of them, would rather wait and save than regret selling something only to have to wait and save just to buy another like it.

Question to the OP, what initiated the changes in duty guns? Dissatisfaction for the gun itself, or new dept or regulations?

I really love my HK P7M8 - couldn't be happier except I wish it would have babies.

When I had my Browning High-Power I didn't see a big need for it, I already had my P7M8 and didn't feel like practicing the different MOA, but after I got rid of it I really regretted it.

Had a Colt Mustang and it was a nice little gun, didn't really appreciate it either until I got rid of it.

I bought the Interarms Tec-9M for an investment, but even when the Assault Weapons Ban came along - I couldn't part with it, so I still have it. I paid $167.00 and they're worth around $400 now I think, but I regretted getting rid of my BHP and Colt Mustang so much, I just don't want to sell the Tec-9M.

I guess the only gun I regret selling is the Glock 17. The G26 was a good gun too just didn't meet my needs. I more regret not buying the right gun from the very beginning.

Our issue guns were S&W 4506 which were ancient. We had a list of approved weapons that we personally own and carry and that is what 99% of us did (probably because of the old and beat up 4506's (not a knock on 3rd gen Smiths, they had just seen better days).

As I get closer to retirement I am beginning to realize that I've met my needs. Of course, every new gun that comes out I want. A Solo comes out, I want one when the bugs are out. Well, I have a nice PM9 so I'm covered in that niche. The new Sig P238? Want one. I believe the bugs may be fixed. I'm ready to get it. Then I slip my LCP into my pocket and ask myself if I want to spend another $600. I have several .22s for plinking. My 1911 bug bite has been scratched. I have a H&K P7, a M19 S&W .357 and a snubbie .38. A BHP in 9mm and .40. A couple of CZs and the list goes on.

My point is, if it's new and it's wonderful and it's the latest, I feel I have it covered. I'll always have a short list of what I want but it's getting harder to reach for the wallet when I'm not really getting something I don't already have covered. I'll never stop wanting more guns but paying for them has become the hardest part. I can't justify it any more.

Very satisfied and have all bases covered, IMO. Doubtful I'll quit buying altogether, but I haven't bought one in a couple years. May even trade some that don't get much range time.

Everyone I have at the present time has a purpose . Getting ready for retirement also. .No more woods stomping .Pocket guns rule .

Really depends!

I am satisfied with every one I own save one- my Auto-Ordnance 1911A1. It is not reliable and it not very accurate. My Colt Series 70 is reliable and accurate...heck my 94 year old M1911 is accurate and reliable. I still like the A-O for some reason. But as far as satisfied with it? Not really. I can still like it and not be satisfied- I think it should be better

Every other one? Quite satisfied

I'm satisfied with all of them - rimfire and center fire - otherwise, I wouldn't own 'em . . . they'd be gone. Why stick with one that you don't like? Life's too short.

I sold my Glock 27. Not regretting it yet. I'm happy with the rest. I'm happy with the 1911's, all of them. I really like my Glock 30. It's the one I carry most often. Happy with my Sig P220's. All of them. And I'm satisfied with all the others.

I'm going to the range tomorrow for my weekly practice. When I return I'll have at least six guns to clean. Even that makes me happy. So I guess I'm pretty satisfied.

I don't buy guns on a whim. As a result of that, I'm happy with all of my handguns. I own several guns and they are all perfect for what I bought them for. For example, my Springfield TRP is my range gun, my LCP is my deep concealment gun, my Glock 22 is my home defense and beater gun.

When I buy, I buy a gun for a purpose. I also know that a single gun isn't perfect for every situation.

I have a G27 w/ 9mm barrel that alone would leave me happy. I admit I hate shooting 40 SW out of it and have considered trading it towards a 357 sig compact with all three barrels.

I have a 1921 police positive I love b/c the trigger on it is just amazing for a $250 gun(I inherited mine, but that is what they go for).

I have a Ruger single six I absolutely love to shoot. Since I bought it I have been shooting it twice as much as all my other guns combined.

I have a Ruger MK II I really liked for a long time, but I hardly ever shoot it over the single six now. It is slightly more accurate.

I have a couple more that serve no purpose. I sometimes think I "NEED" a full size to round things out, but every time I pick one up I find myself saying, no not really.

I am very satisfied with all my guns, my two purchases in last two months have been amazing! Mark23 and HK45. I really really love my HK45, an engineering marvel!!!

I am satisfied with the ones that I own now, did have a couple I didn't care for got rid of them. Have one that was given to me from a close friend that has since died and I keep it because of the sentiment value only. I am getting on in age and have no plans for adding anymore to the herd.

P226 SCT 40 S&W: Loved the gun, did not like 40 S&W and sold. Will probably buy one in 9mm one day.

CZ75B SS-Limited Edition: LOVE the gun, still have it , don't plan on selling anytime soon.

P229 Stainless Elite 9mm: My favorite gun by far, not a single non ammo related failure, awesome gun all around. Would be the LAST gun I owned

S&W 1911PD: Love the gun...but its at the factory for a couple of issues. I like the gun but if S&W doesn't fix the issues I may trade it in for a different 1911.

I hate to think of the money lost on trades and depreciation...

Is that remose, or just whining?:D

I've owned a number of guns over the last 40 years (and I don't need one for "duty"). Many have gone, most have stayed. Never regretted getting rid of any that much (ok, one 6" M19 about 20 years ago...), the ones I am satisfied with, I've kept. I've even kept a some I've never been fully satisfied with.
