I N D E P E N D E N C E, Mo., Feb. 23 — Motorists watched in horror as a stolen vehicle sped down a highway, dragging to death a little boy who was entangled in a seat belt outside one of the doors.
Six-year-old Jake D. Robel of Blue Springs died Tuesday before the driver of the Chevrolet Blazer could be stopped by pursuing motorists. Witnesses said the chase reached speeds of 80 mph.
“He came flying around us and we saw the kid hanging out the side of the car bouncing,” said Fred Byam, who chased the Blazer. “I was honking my horn and flashing my lights.”
Kim L. Davis, 34, of Kansas City, Mo., was charged this morning with second-degree murder, robbery, child abuse and kidnapping.
Police said Davis took the vehicle when Jake’s mother left it running while she went inside a sandwich shop. The man tried to shove the boy out of the car, and “probably thought he’d gotten the kid out, because then he took off,” Sgt. Gregg Wilkinson said.
Motorists Apprehend Suspect
Motorists along Interstate 70 east of Kansas City flashed their lights and honked horns in an attempt to stop the vehicle. It finally was stopped when motorists in two trucks and a car surrounded the Blazer at a stoplight.
The driver allegedly got out of the vehicle, saw Jake’s body, then jumped back in and tried to drive away. Witnesses said the motorists wrestled the man to the ground and waited for police to arrive; they also tied the man’s legs with a rope.
“He was going to leave; he was going to run off,” said John Rodgers. “They sat on him and held him until police got there. There was a woman trying to beat him, and they held her off until police arrived.”
An 11-year-old boy from one of the pursuing vehicles later took a blanket and placed it over the victim, whose clothes had been mostly torn off.

What Gale said. BTW it's good to see you back Gale. Do hope your feeling better.

Why would they prevent the woman from beating him. I would have provided a bat. Does MO have the death penalty? Let us all hope so. Wouldn't it be nice to have some old fashioned justice and hang that SOB on the spot?

Hanging is too good for him - I vote drag him by the feet at 80mph down the highway. I wonder what the courts would do if all the people there had done this to this guy, before the cops showed up. I doubt theres a court in the land, except maybe in California, that would prosecute the avengers.

You bet Missouri has the Death penalty. They are currently holding this subhuman life form with no bond, on a manslaughter charge (among others ie. kidnapping to name another)
The prosecutor is trying to get enough information, he is going to see if he has premeditation and get the grand jury to go for murder1.

Better yet - no death penalty and stick him the general population. While most people wish they could do things to the guy, most prisoners act on it.

Kind of like Dammer- everyone knew he wouldn't last in general population, and he didn't.

It's vermin like that that make people vigilantes. I don't know if I could have kept my hands off the guy if I'd been there.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if his attorney tries to shift blame to the little boy's mother for leaving him in the car.
God only knows the guilt she must be feeling.

Personally, I think they should allow him bail. That way the family & friends of the little boys family could get him out. And take him to their favorite shooting & outing spot. Out by the quarry.

May God watch over Jake for eternity---

Best Regards,
Don

The most foolish mistake we could make would be to allow the subjected people to carry arms; history shows that all conquerers who have allowed their subjected people to carry arms have prepared their own fall.

@#$%^&*(*&@#$%^&!!!! I am known to be composed in the most stressful of situations, but when its a child who is a victim it makes me mad. He SHOULD be dragged on the street at 80mph. then he what ever remains of him should be electrocuted.

I was enraged also when I heard this. Don't know if I could have stopped myself from shooting the cretin even after he was down.

I don't know a jury that would convict you (well not in Missouri at least.)

Death is too easy for this scum.

If I would have witnessed something such as this, I would have a difficult time restraining myself.

Probably would have been extremely rough subdueing and holding him for the police.

Thank goodness there are still folks who will get involved. If it wasn't for them this _thing_ would still be on the loose.

Case such as this are one of the only reasons for taxes.

My prayers to the family.

P.S. I certainly hope the mother is not charged with a crime though she does seem to have been negligent.

"Capping his sorry ass right there" is not enough. I have always believed that the miscreant should have to suffer and enough time while suffering to reflect on how he came to this sorry end. That is the most important part of revenge. Pain and reflection.

After some further thought on this subject, an immediate hanging of this scum may not be the best way to handle the situation. Although I would think being hanged by an angry mob would be about the most terrifying way to end his miserable life, it may not be the most effective. I think that depositing 200gr. in his brain. Then leave a quick note to future car-jackers, pinned to his nose explaining that this is what happens to human waste like this. Then everyone just leave, shows over. Let the cops handle it from there.

Aw maybe not. Gotta admit that being hanged would be quite terrifying. If ya drag him slow down a bit, 35 or 40 should do it.

He's not gonna get the Death Penalty, as you can't for 2nd degree murder (as far as I know).
The ought to lock him up forever, and put up life-size, full-color posters of the boy's body on all three walls of his cell.
That'll give the POS something to think about.

2nd degree my flabby white ass.

I'm with Rob and Gale: drag the sorry sack of $#^@( out of his car, force him to his knees, 1 shot to the back of the head.

   !!!

I belive that most of you are misunderstanding the death penalty.

It is not used to punish the person, it is used so as to say

"we can not properly judge nor punish you for what you have done, so we will send you to the only power that can."

and in this case the sooner the better.
