Who doesnt like Glocks ??

My first gun was a Glock 19 purchased 6/1999.
I shot low and left as most new Glock shooters do. Fixed that by installing a polished 31/2# connector. Next installed the smooth trigger. I now have a BHP Practical 9mm, Beretta 92FS 9mm and just picked up today, a CZ 75B. When on the range I always shoot the Glock first due to recoil. I like the gun and fits my somewhat smaller hand good. I hope the CZ is everything I have read about.

I have two of them. They sit in the back of the safe and collect dust. I'll admit that they do everything they're supposed to do just perfectly.. they just don't do it the way I want them to. Fine gun for somebody else.

Ben has explained my reason very well -- lack of a second strike capability (which is one of the reasons why I don't carry my Kahr MK9 as often as I thought that I would -- lack of a second strike capability). In addition to take, I have a personal issue with pistols which are fired via an internal striker but have no external hammer -- not being able to see what's going on in there (a possible failure in the gun's internal safeties) makes me a little bit uncomfortable. I feel safer with a cocked & locked 1911 than a pistol which has an internal striker with no external hammer.

I hate them! Ever since I retired my 1911 to a Glock. Now I have 5 of things, and still can't get one to malfunction in over 65,000 rounds! I was much happier when I had all the usual excuses....

I don't like them. My very first handgun was a Glock 19. That thing jammed constantly, with a variety of ammo (good stuff, not reloads). I put fewer than 500 rounds through it before trading it for a Beretta 92, and am damn glad I did. I spoke to a friend who was a local cop, and he also had a very low opinion of Glocks, even though the department issued them.

They seem to have something of a cult following...it's beyond me why, though.

John

I want to like them, I really do, but they just don't feel right in my hand. I also feel more comfortable with an external hammer. I used to have a Colt All American DA only and it malfunctioned all of the time so maybe I was scarred psychologically by that experience. But if someone has a nice one that they would like to sell for say ...a hundred bucks I'm interested.

Thats debatable. Some Glocks are not that accurate; however, the G21, G30, and G35 are extremely accurate. Just depends on model. IMO, all Glocks are plenty accurate for DEFENSIVE work out to 25 yards.

I agree with the accuracy statement. I'm not a good shot, but I was able to nail the target with my Pop's Beretta 92, and I can probably pass most CCW classes with my Ruger, but Glocks (in my experience) are pretty rough guns as far as accuracy is concerned. And the sight picture uses wider-than-normal sights and I feel like I'm lining up full-sized Legos when I'm aligning Glock sights :)

I still want a G-27 though.

And in general I shoot Berettas poorly...

Does that mean they have bad accuracy? IMO, NO! It is just a matter of shooting a weapon system that fits you the best. I tend to shoot Sig Sauers, Glocks and Rugers the best. I have never had good accuracy results with Beretta, S&W, or Taurus. But thats just me, in other people's hands I am sure the results will differ significantly.

I'm not looking to get into a pissing contest here. If I made your Glock mad, then I appologize. I just keep coming up with things to add to this post. I usually "Edit" posts and add to them at least three times.

Take care Quantum,
Ben

I always thought Glocks to be ugly but,due to a recent epiphany I have come to see a certain Rodinesque beauty in that ugliness. Of course,as a simple basic tool,Glocks rule and I'm

I just shot a Glock 19 for the first time over the weekend, and for some reason it seems to point strangely for me. I've also shot a G23C.

I did not like them. But after being told by several people that once I had shot one some I would change my mind I decided to give them the benfit of the doubt. A friend of mine loves them and has several. After spenting countless hours and thousands of rounds firing his I have came to conclcusion that I no longer dislike them. I hate 'em. Not because of misfires or malfunctions. In their defense they performed flawlessly. But like so many above they fit my hand like a 2X4. In fact I did not realize until reading this thread just how common a problem this was.
I don't critisize anyone elses desire to own one or their taste in guns (other than the joking jab now and then ;)) but personally I can't imagine ever owning one.

Your a good guy. I consider this a friendly debate (I don't do "pissing matches" either). I just want to tell it how it is--I don't do "P.C." . I really believe that it is a matter of preference (what people shoot the best).

Yes, Tecolote, I do remember seeing you sometime back completely drunk somewhere there, in the DA/SA maze of sigaholism. I, in fact, myself was so addicted, that I could have ... died. From not being able to perform either a single "controled pair", a "double tap", or a "hammer", that is. The first shot would've definitely gotten to the BG's COM, but the second could have hit a bystander.

I switched to Glocks just to switch to a pistol with a consistent trigger pull. When trying to choose one, I finally gave a try to the ugliest looking gun which was what I thought of all the Glocks. But when I felt my shooter's confidence building up as I looked at a target after each drill, the ugly one suddenly turned into a thing of beauty, refinement, and radiant grace.

I'm a Glockaholic now...hey, I have to go and hold it...for a while now...

I used to not like them, but now the new grip design fits my hand better and I actually dig the triggers. I especially like their subcompact models and would opt for one if allowed to carry.

When I first saw and held a Glock, I thought to myself, "This will never catch on, it feels like a 2x4, stresses the palm of my hand when holding it, points high, and is plain ugly." I still believe this to be true. If only they would make a grip intended for a human hand. Well, I was issued one by me department and it took a long time to get used to it. While I still hate the grip shape, I have to admit that now that I have become used to it, I can't shoot anything else as well. I used to like DA auto's, now I don't. Once you get used to the trigger, anything else besides a SA feels dangerous. And they are practically rust proof, which is a plus in police work. I still like 1911's, but I like the glock too. It just takes a while.

I find them repulsive in looks and in feel. There is something to be said about real metal. Depsite being small in stature, I like heavy sidearms, but love light rifles. Glocks are the wave of the future, with all the polymer and all, but there is nothing like holding 2lbs of American steel in your hands.

I agree. I know that they are great guns but, I've have a hard time getting fired up about plastic guns since I traded my water guns for that leaver action Daisy BB Gun when I was a tot.

I guess I'm just old fashioned. To me, there is nothing prettier than a Smith & Wesson revolver. Above all else, my guns MUST be pretty! Glocks aint!
