I was born in PA, but grew up and still live in AZ. I have hunted deer a number of times in PA with family. Seems to me that you guys often get rain on the first day, which of course then turns to ice and/or snow. If I were to relocate, I would be looking for a rifle in stainless with a composite stock. Savage, Browning Xbolt, or Tikka in .308, 7m-08, .260, or 6.5 Creedmoor.
I have a stainless X-bolt in 6.5 Creedmoor for Coues whitetail here in SE AZ. Very accurate and light. I really like the controls; detachable mag, decent trigger, and short throw bolt locks on safe, plus stainless durability.
