In the great tradition of internet forums I will completely ignore the options that you posted in your OP and go with something that you do not have nor asked about...

My vote is to go with a Glock 27.

neither... PPK has a probability of jamming with anything but ball ammo. then it still may jam with ball.

steel J frame hide nice like PPK ... but both weight too much for CCW.
spoiled by my 340PD CT ... weight 13 oz loaded with .357

Personally, I'd take the S&W. I own both a PP in .32 ACP and a M36 with a 2" barrel. I actually find the more rounded contours of the revolver make it easier to conceal than the Walther and I prefer the heavier bullets available in a .38 Special (most .380 JHP's run anywhere from 88-102grn while .38 Specials run anywhere from 110-158grn).

for you I would say what ever you feel the most confident with.

for me I would go with the J frame because I currently CCW a S&W J-Frame (only in 357)

have fun shooting it, mine doesn't have a built in lock (I am not a fan of the lock, I never have been) and it's a pure joy to shoot 148 grain semi wadcutters out of

I'd take an aluminum-frame snubnose with a 2" barrel over the PPK, but the revolver you describe doesn't make it as clear-cut. My main objection to the PPK would be its carryability, not its caliber or action.

Neither of the guns you mention sounds like a true pocket gun, so if you're carrying the gun on your belt, the PPK starts to sound more attractive. For IWB, I might prefer the PPK.
