H&K USP Compact of course

I own 1911's, Sig 220, Hk USP Compact and have owned EAA Witness. Soon will own a C7.45 LDA. I say the Hk is tops for the following reasons. 1) ten round capacity, 2) light weight, 3) extreme accuracy ( one hole groups at 25 feet, one inch benched at 25 yards with handloads) 4) good grip ergonomics, 5) good out of the box sight picture.
Yes the Sig has a smooth trigger but as good as it is, the Hk tops it.

If I couldn't buy a 1911, I'd have to just go with those that I have....:p

But - my choice isn't represented in the poll. Based on experience with my PT940, I would try the TAURUS PT 945.

My PT940 has been fantastic, and Taurus still builds guns with that great safety system: DA/SA safety off, DA/SA safety on, or SA/SA safety on ("cocked & locked"). I would have to at least give this gun a try.

[Edited to include:]

Besides - where else can you get a factory built pimp version? :)

Flattop (and other HKers)

I am considering swapping the G30 for the USP compact.

Please tell: that awesome reliability you speak of: with or without +10% mag springs?

AND, in any event, would you recommend stronger mag springs or stick with the factory for utmost reliability in the compact USP .45??????????????????????

I've never seen any need to change anything on a USP. I've owned two different USPC .45's and both have been 100% reliable out of the box. I haven't shot my newest one that much but the first one I owned had about 2000 rounds through it without a single malf. And that was shooting mainly hollowpoints. My newer one has only about 500 rounds through her but has preformed flawlessly as well. HK's are awesome. I am going to try to find a 9mm compact next, they are a little smaller than the .45 compact. Shane

I'm a 1911 fan, but there is just something about that massive CZ97b. I've always liked CZ, and it just calls to me. :) Plus the single action is actually pretty good. It is huge, and did I mention that it was massive? Not a CCW piece. But nice gun.

I guess I'm lucky in that I've gotten to shoot most of the guns on the list. (Not lucky enough to own though).

I like the Sig 220. Good gun, but it just doesn't do anything for me. I don't like the decocker. Heck who am I kidding, I just don't like DA. :p

The HK felt good in my hands. But I found the recoil harsh, and the trigger just ok.

I don't like the S&W 4506. Grip feels kind of skinny, but still blocky. I do like the little TSW .45, what ever it is called. It actually shot pretty good for a little gun.

The Ruger P97 is a good gun. And hard to beat for the price. It is actually my wife's favorite handgun.

Glock 21 is fun, but the 30 is pretty size efficient (fat but efficient) and it shoots really well.

The Beretta feels good. Recoil is actually pretty mild. Accuracy was ok. Saw one once with some black micarta grips, very pretty.

Haven't shot the Taurus.

I just like all guns, and wouldn't mind owning one of each. :p
