Yes, I conducted this private poll as well about a year and a half ago...

USP full size won. I'm surprised HK is doing so well in this poll - lots of fine weapons.

I own a Sig 220 and a HK USP full size. While
both are excellent pistols I would have to give
the nod to the 220. If the trigger on the USP
was as sweet as the Sig it would be a little
tougher decision.

I love 1911's and I can't see launching the 45ACP cartridge from much else except maybe a Thompson SMG or a wheelgun. If I had to choose one though, it would have to be a Glock. Probably a Glock 36.

RUGER P90

Well. I just just ordered a Ruger P90 in .45acp, I'm still waiting for it, But I bought it because I love my P89 and the .45 is known to be a very accurate round, plus it's going to fit the leather I already have.. So if the P90 is anything like my P89, I will love it to hell and back.

Mark IV Series 80

The H&K is quite a bit more expensive. Is it worth the extra money?

To me in a word, YES. I've had my USP .45 full size since May 28. Over 3000 rounds of different ammo manufactures and not one failure of any kind. I didn't buy a .45ACP to upgrade it, I bought one to shoot and defend my home. I have no regrets with the price I paid or the weapon I bought.

Why settle on just one? While I own 4 of the guns listed, my favorite would have to be the SIG P-220, followed closely by the Beretta 8045. For target practice, I prefer a traditional full-size 45, but the polymer PT-145 is ideal for concealed carry. :)

You selected a good bunch to choose from! I have four of the guns you mentioned...don't have a CZ-97B yet...so I voted for what I WANT today. I don't plan to begin collecting Rugers or Taurus guns...Won't go for the *&* guns...I'd buy a Witness but don't have it on my list right now. I like semi-autos and will continue chasing them. I may begin collecting older semi-auto pocket guns...AND...of course I will certainly buy a 1911 someday...I just have not decided to do it yet.

Glock, HK, or Sig

I dont have a non 1911 45 but if I bought one it would be either a Glock, HK, or Sig. This seems to be inline with the poll percentages as they were all running close at over 20%. I did vote for the glock though not the 21 just to big for my hands.

One of my most recent purchases was a CZ 97B and it has to be the most accurate "out-of-the-box" .45's I've ever shot. Don't think anyone could go wrong with one.

If it can't be a 1911, I would pick the Smith & Wesson M4506 or
M945.

Couple reasons:
1) Stainless steel (no corrosion)
2) Fragile as a brick
3) You can STILL get cocked and locked carry with the M945 (if
that's what turns your crank, go for it- I fell out of love with
cocked and locked a few years ago, for various reasons...)
4) You can get 8 rounds of .45 in the mag, plus one in the pipe
(Yes, I know that you can do it with 1911's now, too, but a
lot of them still come with 7-rounders)
5)If you fire to slidelock, you can beat the crap out of someone
with it and there will be no damage to the gun.
6) Feels good in the hand (to me at least)
7) Shoots straighter than I can
8) Will handle .45 loads that will break a normal out-of-the-box
1911

Since I've got three of the models listed in your poll I chose my favorite, the CZ97B. The Beretta 8045 is nice and so is the HK USP45 but the CZ will outshoot either any day of the week.

Resurrected an old thread

This past week I purchased a new P90T. Never heard anything bad about the P90's. Oddly enough, I went against the grain and chose it over a used Sig P220. The P90 just felt better in my hand.

Which .45???

What Abominable No-Man said.

The 4506 is all steel thing of beauty (at least to me) that fires nine rounds of .45 ammo where I want them to go.

I think if folks would set aside the all to often stated propaganda that S&W makes a sub-standard weapon, and at least try one, opions might just change.

Two problems exist:

1. The 4506 is no longer in the S&W catalog.

2. S&W had better make a public choice to either continue in the Clinton aggrement, or make a 180 degree turn.

I hope S&W makes the turn around. It would sure be a shame to see them go under.

Love Sig 220's, they work in my hand, it all about pointability. If only they had the same 5" length barrels as 1911's, talkin' about accuracy.....
