Easy choice

CZ 97B. Cocked and locked capability, phenomonal accuracy, pussycat recoil (40 ounce frame and great ergonomics make recoil feel like wussy .38 spl wadcutter), reliable, perfect balance (due to the heavy frame), and very tight tolerances. What more can you ask from a MSRP $600 dollar pistol (prices are as low as $479 at CZ connection)! ;)

Sorry, that's a contradiction in terms.

I'm going to buy a 45 ACP and it CAN'T be a 1911 type? Sort of like buying a car, but it can't have wheels!

Okay. I confess. I did buy a S&W DAO 45 several years ago. (Pre-sellout.) It works well, but is sluggish handling in my mind. And the DA pull is just not the same. (You'd think with the revolvers, they'd know how to get a DAO pull right. They didn't.)

I would consider an H&K USP45, but only for special purposes.

Right now I have an issue Glock 17 that I must carry on duty. That's one lacking gun too many to have around. I sure ain't going to buy one on purpose.

I've got a few HK's that I really LIKE :D I've owned Sigs, Glocks, and *&*. The HK USPs just work for me.
Like you read in so many threads, get the one that fits you best, that you shoot best and the one that won't break the bank! ;)

I just bought one, but it is not listed:

H&K USP Expert in .45 Auto

In a world of compromise, some don't! :D

Oh no, now my Glock doesn't speak to me anymore

It's difficult to understand...

I've gone to the gun shop twice to purchase a Glock 36. I've left empty handed both times. It just doesn't "look" right. And I'm a big fan of Glocks. What am I missing? (Other than another great pistol.)

SIG P220

Definitely the SIG P220 for me. I love 1911's, but I must admit to being quite smitten with the SIG. To me, the SIG is of higher overall quality and intrinsic accuracy than any 1911-style pistol that I've owned (to the exclusion of custom 1911's). Mine will shoot 1.5" groups at 25 yards from a solid rest with with el cheapo 230 gr. factory reloads.
That's phenomenal performance from a $650 gun, IMO. :p

I love the H&K .45, except with my small hands, the double stack doesn't work for me. Therefore, I would choose a SIG as a non 1911 .45.

For the budget minded, the Ruger .45s work fabulous, but with most people I know, it is a love it or hate it relationship when it comes to Rugers.

I didn't realize that the H&K was so popular!

I've heard a lot of talk about the CZ and the Ruger, but not much about the H&K.

The H&K is quite a bit more expensive. Is it worth the extra money?

Mark IV,
I too am thinking about buying a 45...I'm either getting a Two-Tone Sig P220 with siglites or an HK USP 45c in stainless...I had an HK 45 compact a while back...It was one of the most accurate guns I've shot & it never gave me an ounce of trouble...I traded it in like a big dummy...Anyway....I heard that HK just had another price increase...An HK compact 45 in Stainless in my area(DE) now sells for around $840...Ouch !! HK or Sig you really cant go wrong...

Just did that last month. SIG if you can afford it (or HK if it fits your hand better; it doesn't mine). Ruger if money is tight (mines tighter than a rubberband!

HK simply makes the best firearms in the world. My USP Tactical (in .45 ACP, of course) is the best firearm I own and I don't think that's going to change for a long while.
I picked it up a few months ago for just $800, and saw another at a gun show yesterday for $900. You can still get pretty good deals on them.
Check out http://hkpro.com/ for more information (don't forget their message boards either).
