I'd choose a Python, but only because I'm a little nutty about them--and I'd expect to have to pay a premium price for a revolver that's not up to its old standards. I'm actually in the market for a used four-inch Python in tip-top condition rather than a new one.
I would have no problem from a gun from any of those catagories so long as I checked it out thoroughly first. The S&W however I would buy used (the question is current production guns not new guns) since I think they are moving in the right direction but are being a bit lazy (and thus aren't quite there) so far as "the agreement" is concerned. The only one I wouldn't buy is the Python, though only because I don't think it is worth the cost (I'd rather get a used Trooper MKIII or a couple nice S&Ws for the money).
Anyway, I will be picking up a used 586 in a couple days, I have a S&W 65LS that is less than a year old, and a Taurus 605 that is about 6months old. I would like a Ruger SP101 and GP100 and a S&W 685+ within a year or two, as soon as the money and the gun availablity coincide I hope to get a S&W 60LS, and I've decided that when the .44mag comes sometime in the next year it will be either the Taurus 44 or the Taurus Raging Bull.
N frame smith. Just like they used to make 'em.
Like a 610, 625, 657, etc.
Their L-frames aren't that bad, either, but not as good as the older smiths, say, from the eighties.
I looked at a performance center 8 times .357 n-frame , and was disappointed with how bad the PC triggers have become.
where's the Korth? LOL!- how about a Freedom Arms single action,if you have any political hang ups with ruger or S&W. right now i have a ruger bisley vaquero, and a SRH 454.
Taurus just overdoes a number of their guns for my taste. i think they get better every year, and see myself getting one in the next 10 years.
thinking of is a Medusa from Phillips & Rogers. K frame sized with a unique cylinder that laaows firing of 35 different 38 caliber cartridges(38 spec, 357 mag,9mm, 380, 9mm largo, 38 super, 9mm rimmed, etc. ) should be a neat addition to the collection.
I am also looking at a used lightweight bodyguard for a new carry gun when I can get the PA permit(6 months residency requirement)
