Which Manufacture provides the BEST overall customer service?

This is kind of "loaded" question, pardon the pun.

Customer service is all relative. Someone could call 4x in any given day and get different service from 4 different people. I think all the major manufacturers all have decent customer service. The best customer service is the one you dont have to call. ;)

Several are excellent to very good. North American Arms is superb. Ruger is the best of the really big makers with S&W only shortly behind these days. Taurus ranges from "barely adequate" to "sucks".

STI is supposed to be pretty damn good.

Jim March - thanks, that's the kind of answer I'm looking for...specific

Maybe I can narrow down the question a bit. I'm probably looking for a .380 or 38spl next. Don't have a lot to spend on another gun (I'm up to 4 so far). What would be the top 3 or 4 mfg. and maybe the bottom 2 or 3 figuring low to medium price range?

The only service department I've dealt with has been S & W and it has been outstanding. They have a lifetime guarantee on their products. If something goes wrong, they send you a prepaid shipping tag, you ship back to them, and a couple of weeks later you get the repaired item back. It's as simple as that. The folks I've spoken to on the phone have been sympathetic, helpful, and candid.

I own a glock a smith and a couple taurus. only had things go wrong with the taurus, both of them. Been waitin over 7 months now for a rear sight, had to wait almost three for a dang screw. but ive herd glock has great service

I've had a few guns go south since I started buying them in the mid-'80s, and I managed a gun store for a time between college and law school. I've gotten to see a lot of customer service from gunmakers.

The shops that stood out to me as providing especially good service were S&W, Kahr, and Rohrbaugh, with Rohrbaugh providing personalized service that was like the concierge at the last Ritz-Carlton where I stayed.

Pretty subjective question. Some might only consider a CS "BEST" if they send a courier to your door with a loaner gun and then he takes your gun by private jet back to the factory where a team of technicians drop everything they doing to work on your gun. Then send it back with a case of ammo, 4 new mags and a fine Coreeenthian leather gun rug.

Others might simply expect a friendly, courteous person on the phone. Then they fix your gun in the time they say it will take.

Generally speaking, CS falls somewhere in between. There are plenty of threads regarding CS. You can fairly easily make a decision simply by the number of satisfied customers for a particular brand..

The best customer service I have dealt with for a gun manufacturer is that from Smith and Wesson. I have dealt with Taurus, H&K, Ruger, Winchester and Remington. They were all "good" but I felt S&W was outstanding. They really go the extra distance to make sure the customer is happy. I didn't get that feel from the others. And I have dealt with all except Winchester more than once.

FNH was outstanding. Ruger was great.

My S&W experience so far has been poor. Besides the "mailing" of the label to you, they could of at least "mentioned" that they were shut down for 2 weeks for the holidays when I talked to them on 12/16.

My 638 floated around in Fed Ex land for 13 days before it was finally able to be delivered today. :barf:

I've had great experiences with Smith and Wesson, Ruger, and Remington. Though Remington only offers a 1 year warranty where with the other two it's pretty much lifetime (even though Ruger doesn't even offer a written warranty).

If you measure customer service by how far the manufacturer goes BEYOND the stated warranty in the manual, then Ruger wins without contest.

Ruger firearms have NO warranty at all.

This is because Ruger refuses to comply with provisions of the Magnuson Moss Act if they state a particular type of warranty.

While many hate the guns, Hi-Point has outstanding customer service, with lifetime coverage on everything, regardless of who owns the gun. I know folks who have bought second hand HPs and sent them in before firing them and HP has gone over them and replaced anything needing replacement and then sent it back.
