Which Glock

I was not going to get into this, but I have to put a plug in for the much malaigned G36. I used to carry the G26. (That's another story that most of you have heard by now) After that little bit of equipment relocation ended, I found a new Glock 30 under the Christmas tree. :) Well, as it turned out, the G30 was to fat for my hand, so I traded it in for a G36. (Boy, was she pissed!!! I was asked earlier if I wanted the 30 or the 36. Guess what I answered ???? ;) ) Anyway, I carry the G36. I find that it is the most versitile handgun I own. Usually, I carry IWB. But I can pocket, ankle, and hip carry it and do when the situation warrants it. I also have to give a plug for the so-called "bigger hole going in" theory. Why wait for a 9mm or 10mm Kurz round to "expand" to .45 caliber, when you can have that right off the bat!! The 4 round thing ain't squat either. I just carry two spare mags instead of one!!! I also load it with Cor-Bon 165gr +P's which give me a .45ACP slug that travels as swiftly as a 9mm!!!

In short, do the right thing and get the G36. If not, the G26 is a sweet little gun and I recommend it as a second choice!!!

Well....of the 3 gunshops I visited with my dilemma.....they all gave high marks to the G36 and said that is what they would choose out of the 26, 27, 30, 36. I think that the G36 is going to have to be one of the ones I locate to shoot also. Will let everyone know what I decide.

Thanks

Bought my first Glock(27) two weeks ago...I am impressed!!! I am now hooked on Glocks. I bought the 27 because I am partial to the .40 cal and because of its concealability. What I didn't expect at the time of purchase was the incredible accuracy I would experience with this gun! My next gun purchase will most definitely be a Glock; probably a .45 cal for "winter carry".
Be safe... :D

It seems to me (in retrospect), that my G27 recoils a little fiercer than my G30. Probably due to velocity. That said, neither recoil enough to qualify as a bad experience. I carry by G27 mostly - not sure why except it does seem a little more comfortable (i.e. thinner).

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet, but if you get the 27, you can buy a new barrel and shoot .357Sig as well.

Not everyone agrees with that, in fact some people disagree violently, but for the most part, people who have ACTUALLY tried it have had 100% reliability.

I have a 27 with Pearce +1's on it. It's a great little pistol.

Definitely shoot a 27 before you commit to it. The muzzle flip is much greater than any of the other Glocks. For me, a Pearce grip extension is essential, and I have to pull down hard with my pinky to control the gun properly during recoil. My advice on mini-Glocks would be if your hands are too big to get your pinky on the grip, then go for the 9mm instead of the .40. Also, I've never tried it, but I think all of the Glocks are too big and heavy for ankle carry.

GLOCK27

I have one and love it. I did a lot of research and shooting before getting it. The 40SW gives you more rounds in the mag than the 45, 40SW is a very common and easy to find round, it is a very effective round... and my G27 carries well in an ankle holster under my jeans in Fl.

I have a G21, 30, 36, and a recently purchased 27. All but the 21 have the Pearce extensions as I have very large hands. All of them will shoot lights out if you do your part. I think you will like the 36 or 27 very much because of it's versatility of carry including ankle or SOB. Believe it or not I have a buddy of mine who carries his 30 in an ankle rig and he's just a little fella about 5'5" and 140 pounds. You'd never know it. In fact I sold my first 21 hi-cap to a young Hispanic fella about that size and I asked him what he wanted it for and he said "A backup gun" quite seriously. I sort of chuckled and thought he was joking until he lifted up his shirt and pulled a Desert Eagle from his waistband. So you can hide just about anything if you got a mind to.

I own a Glock 30. I used to have a Glock 27. I like the G30 much more than the G27. It's more accurate, has less felt recoil, and it's not much larger. And it holds 10+1 rounds of .45 ACP! :D

Some fellers don't like the grip. They say it's too fat. I have no problem with it. If you're used to 1911's, you probably won't be comfortable with the grip.

I have owned at least one of every Glock model except the G29/32/33/36. My all time best carry semi in any gun is the G19. It is the perfect handgun for me. Accurate and fastest presentation. I presently own one but I want another just in case. My distant second choice would be the G26.

If I were to buy a Glock with the intention of carrying, it would be the G30 loaded with either Gold Dots or Ranger SXTs. Not knocking the stopping power of the HydraShoks as they have proven themselves to Marshall and Sanow, but most studies have shown they don't expand as reliably as the Gold Dots or SXTs.

Of the four Glock models I've owned, the G30 gets the nod. Very mild recoil and good control. Great gun. A Kimber UC just replaced it as my EDC, though, because I like that thin, little 1911 and enjoy change. Doubt you'll be disappointed in the G30.
