Which full size non-1911 .45 acp?!

Love the XDM 5.25, but for my money and use, I'll take the XD45 Tactical with thumb safety. I shoot it very well. It holds 13+1. It has good sights. Also it has 1911 ergos more or less with the TS.

BTW, you need more 1911's!

All my non-1911 .45's say Glock on them.

All the other ones have long been sold.

...

Though I might like to try out a CZ 97 some day.

I'd skip anything from Springy, they're having so many issues lately...

My list would be:
1. Glock 41
2. S&W 45XX (pretty much any of the series will do...including the 645/745)
3. Star Megastar
4. American Luger in .45acp
5. S&W M&P .45
6. KRISS Vector SDP

and it ain't a pistol, but a Marlin Camp 45 is a MUST for any serious .45ap collector :)

I like Sigs but only in 9mm. Their design has a high bore axis attenuating recoil and muzzle flip resulting in slower follow up shots. This is noticeable and negative in .357 Sig, .40 and .45.

I have a Sig X-5 L-1 in .40 and it recoils the same as my 10mm 1911.

1911s and Glocks have a lower bore axis.

My favorite .45 is my 1989 West German Sig P220. Never been a fan of the 1911 design myself, and lean more towards DA/SA designs.

Can't go wrong with this one, or the P227 if you want more capacity.

Non-1911? So you must have several and be wanting something else. :p

I'd lean toward the Sig P227, the H&K 45 Tactical, the Sig P220 or the H&K USP 45 Tactical.

[/QUOTE]98 220 swift What about a SAR K2. I love mine and it has been more accurate than the M&P 45 I used to have. It also holds 15rnds of 45 acp.

I've never heard of SAR but that's a lot of 45 rounds! How's the reliability of this weapon? And is it made by EAA?

curt.45 move the sig 220 and the SR45 up your list aways.

What do you think about the ruger?

2ndsojourn If your handle is Glockfan, why are you asking?

I have glocks in other calipers but time for some variety :D

I wish they would make an xdm 5" tactical without the dumb cut slide on the 5.25. I know what it's for but it looks dumb to me.

I'm going to have to look at some of these pistols as I have never heard of them! Thanks for pointing them out :)

SIG P220, preferably an older German gun. And, no matter which one you get, unless you have to have it, skip the rail.

One that isn't on your list that is worthy of consideration is the S&W 645.

Sorry-1911 Fan

Old School Army, use to carry a Colt on my side...I LIKE 1911s. I now carry a BUL M5 Government (Israeli made) when out hunting wild boar. Also shoots with accuracy at range targets,,,:D

The SAR K2 is made by Sarsilmaz in Turkey imported by eea. It is sort of a cz 75 clone. So far reliability has been great after at least 500 rnds. Just a couple of hickups due to my reloads being to long.

What's so bad about the railed version? I only require a light/laser on my ccw and bedside which is my xds and soon to be glock 21 :D

Thanks for the quick reply! I love the looks of the cz75 and that's great! Would I still have to deal with EAA's customer service? They're worthless from what I've read.
