Which .22 handgun is your favorite plinker?

I believe that most of us here own several .22 handguns, but we all have a special one that accompanies us to the range or to the field more often than the others.

This one is my current favorite, though I also own a Walther P22, Norinco M93, and a Ruger 22/45 Mark II. (Also owned a Jennings J-22, Phoenix Arms HP-22, and a Ruger New Model Single-Six convertible .22 at one stage).

S&W Model 17 pre-lock, 6" barrel and 10-round cylinder.

Which of your .22's would you consider your personal favorite?

Is that a 17-8? I thought the 17-8 came with an black-anodized alloy cylinder and a matte-blued finish; how did yours get to be polished?

Lately, it's been my new Walther P22, but I think that's because the novelty hasn't worn off yet. I just got it three weeks ago.

Prior to that, it's a toss up between my Ruger MKII competition model and my Single-Six. I have a Ruger 22/45 also, but I enjoy shooting the other guns more.

For a while it was the P22, until I bought a Mark III Hunter.

With the 6.875" barrel and the Hi-Viz sites I can hit the 6" steel plate at the 50 yard range just about every time. Love to hear the PING! Packs well in my backpack camping too, in case I'm in the mood for squirrel.

Best 22 out there I think, as long as you don't take it apart!

I prefer my High Standard B. But I like the looks of that HB for sure!

My J. Stevens .22 long break barrel is just as favorite to plink with, but I only shoot shorts through it.

A S&W 617 revolver ( 6 shot ) is my personal favorite ( stand alone gun ) - but I also shoot a wilson combat 1911 conversion kit quite a bit ( on a Wilson CQB .45 acp model ). Its a good accurate kit / shoots well too.

One of my two buckmarks always goes on a range trip with me: either the 5.5 field model with a red dot or my 5.5" camper model that has well over 30K through it.

I've yet to shoot a .22 handgun that I really like. It's almost ironic. The .22LR is the cheapest caliber to shoot, but a good pistol in .22LR pistol isn't cheap.

All of my .22 handguns are fun :)

First choice: Ruger MkII

Second choice: S&W K-22 Combat Masterpiece (has a trigger that is what a trigger should be, breaks like glass with no creep & no over travel).

Third choice: Colt single action .22 Peacemaker.
